Thank you for your letter dated December 10, *** *** was invited to our Nanomix offices in Emeryville, CA for an interview on 10/22/At that time he was informed that Nanomix would reimburse him for all reasonable travel
expenses related to the interview
Subsequent to the completion of his interview, Mr*** submitted documents to us and requested reimbursement for his expensesHis initial submission did not include a receipt for his airfareHe included only a copy of his reservation, which included the price of his ticket but no proof of paymentBecause of this, he was asked to produce the receipt to document proof of payment
Additionally, it was noted that Mr*** expensed a $car rental for travel between San Francisco International Airport and our offices in Emeryville, including $for the two-day car rental and $in additional charges added during the rentalOur company policy for reasonable travel dictates reimbursement for the most economically available mode of transportation, which in this case would have been a one-way $subway ride or $taxi fareMr*** provided no justification or explanation why a two-day car rental with 117% of additional charges was required
It was also noted that Mr*** requested reimbursement for a two-night hotel stay for $617.27, despite the availability of numerous return flights when his interview concluded on the afternoon of 10/22/In spite of this, Nanomix mailed Mr*** a check in the amount of $1,on 12/2/15, which at the time of this letter remains uncashed
Regarding the timing of the check sent, Nanomix finance and accounting policy includes monthly check runs, which are made at the beginning of each monthSince Mr*** did not produce the required documents and explanations in time for the November check run, his reimbursement was made in the next cycle after his paperwork was completeWe did reimburse both nights for the hotel, meals, airfare, other transportation, and all but the amount of the "additional charges added during rental" for the carAlso, this "receipt" from Dollar Rent-A-Car was not actually a receipt for proof of paymentIt was just an undated "Statement of Charges - Not Valid for Rental." We do not actually have any proof of payment for the car rental because none was provided, so we do not know what he actually paid the car rental company
Regarding Mr***'s claim that Nanomix threatened him, our contention is that our employee, Dr***, was being unduly harassed by Mr***, who made repeated and multiple phone calls, emails, texts, and facetime chats to Dr*** both at work and, most inappropriately, at his homeDuring one of the multiple calls and threats made by Mr***, while Dr*** was at his home, Dr*** told Mr*** that if he did not stop harassing him, he would call the police to report this unacceptable behavior
Nanomix appreciates the opportunity to respond to Mr***'s allegations, and hopes that this information sheds more insight into the situation that transpired
