Nathans Oil, Inc. Reviews (2)

I switched from [redacted] oil in [redacted] because they were rude and thieves. I love Nathan's oil the Secretary Donna is a sweetheart, the owner is amazing, Fred is a great guy. The customer service and low prices and quality are old school. I will forever be a loyal customer and I tell everyone I know about this company!!!!

I started working with Nathan's oil this past fall great prices and what seemed to be great service.A few weeks ago they came and filled our tanks. We have paid by check each time.On 1/21 our check for [redacted] bounced, for a legitimate reason, I transferred money into the wrong account by accident. *I take full responsibility for this and in no way tried to get out of our obligation. My banked notified me the day that it bounced 1/21. I immediately called Nathan's oil, ON 1/21, to let them know of the situation. I told them I would pay for any fee's and explained the situation. They said no problem and they had not been notified yet.I received a call on 1/25 from Nathan's Oil saying they had received notice of the bounced check. The person I had spoken with insisted they wanted a new check with fees included. I made it very clear that the other check cannot be re-deposited. I did not want to pay the [redacted] dollar void check fee and they said they had check in hand - "I guarantee it would not be re-deposited" was told to me. The owner stopped buy this same day and picked up a new check for [redacted] and confirmed the old check would not be re-deposited..On 1/28 the check for [redacted] was presented to my bank and cleared. My obligation met.On 1/31 and 2/4 the original check for $1396 was re-deposited to my bank, causing a catastrophic five checks to bounce in my account totally over [redacted] IN FEES.I called Nathan's Oil and they said they would check with their bank, [redacted] I did not get a response for 2 days until I called again. The person I spoke with at Nathan's tried to blame me and my bank my bank for re-depositing the original check, makes no sense, they had the check and they re-deposited it. I tried to explain that it caused me over [redacted] in fees, there response was if I had not bounced the first check then this would never had happened. Really!!!I tried to resolve this professionally and they just kept blaming me or my bank, threatening, hanging up.Product_Or_Service: OilDesired SettlementI would like my bounce check fees covered for what they did. They promised me that the check would not be re-deposited and they did it anyway. After the services rendered had been paid. Business Response Hi My Name is [redacted] co owner of Nathan's Oil. This customer was never promised anything! My first experience with this customer was in early December of 2013. At that time we where a CASH only oil company because our bulk fuel terms were COD no extension. Customer was instructed by me on his first delivery these terms and he agreed. It says it on the customers delivery ticket. At this time I was the only one working here so it was only me that dealt with this customer. I further told him on phone that the cost would be between [redacted] CASH at time of delivery. Customer agreed to the terms of the company for that delivery. When I arrived as the delivery driver I asked the customer if they still wanted both tanks filled. Customer said yes and I said again it will be around XX-XXXX dollars cash. I was told "I have your money" as customer walked inside. I shut the pump off around [redacted] because I felt uneasy when a customer walks away like that. I have been a delivery driver for 14 yrs and have experienced customers showing you the cash and going inside and never answering the door. With my fuel buying terms I couldn't afford to loose [redacted] gallons and [redacted] was plenty to last them threw the holidays. After filling customer returns with a CHECK to pay the bill having no choice I excepted this as payment in the sake of good business. The size of the check and my new bank account caused check to be held for 3 days. I couldn't buy [redacted] gallons of oil because this money was held up. I only had [redacted] to buy oil then This tied up [redacted] of it. I have found this customer to be distrustful from the start and I put him on my mental watch list. on this delivery of [redacted] gallons I made roughly [redacted] GROSS to truck fuel from Springfield to LeicesterOn the second delivery the customer was told we would take a check but the checks are deposited on the same day because we still had a tight schedule of now 3 days to psy our oil bill. When delivery was made customer wrote the bad check. His bad check caused our [redacted] draw for oil from our suppliers to be [redacted] short. we only made about [redacted] from this delivery GROSS. Our other money covered customers bad check so we didn't get shut off from buying oil plus fees. I never told customer how much trouble they caused me . Having to move money and things to pay my bills. Having to move lots of money threw Us on to our supplier in a 3 day time frame is the reason we are staying in business. Overextended credit and only a few bad check will cripple small oil companies. The issue of not responding to this customer after a few attempts to reason with customer The customers yells screams degrades the people he has spoken with. I myself tried explaining our views to customer and was constintley interrupted and screamed at. I finally yelled back at customer if they wanted to address this further it would be at court or with a middle person to hear both sides. No way could we reason with this customer nor did I want their buisness any longer. Customer feels this is an Honest mistake. That is unfair to me and anyone that takes a check. When a check is Writin it is a contract that subjects the issuer to ALL policies of the person or company getting the check, their banks policies, and the issuers banks policies. The customer wrote a bad check and in customers own word didn't want to spend [redacted] to stop payment on the bad check customer issued. But customer takes full responsibility of the bad check wrote by customer.Customer should have cancelled the bad check they wrote and that would have been responsible banking after causing so much trouble. This customer is a business owner and wouldn't tolerate me dine and dash his place!!! No One from this company authorizes checks but me and no one ever said we would or wouldn't do anything with customers bad check. This was Our first ever experience with a bad check. The customer was told he was to make good with cash. When I went to pick up money customer wrote another check and then started talking about delay deposit. I told him I wasn't hearing it the check would be deposited Monday with our next deposit. I have floated this customers [redacted] bill with my supplier for over ** days now. I do believe that is when the pen touches the paper the money must be in account. Customer was told the check would be in bank that day so it would clear in two day and be ready for [redacted] to be passed on to my supplier. Then customer left threatening message on our phone we can supply. Customer also went to anyone Our advertisement, our fuel supplier,Revdex.com,Yelp,and tried but FACEBOOK to bash us for his wrong doing. Customer has thrown as much mud at us as he could in these last few weeks. We waited to respond to see what else he would do. I would like to settle this by saying customer wrote the check and took full responsibility to all policies that makes him responsible to cancel his own bad check. We never got one penny from this bad check into our account or I would feel different. The check was auto redeposited by our bank and his bank held the money is my understanding of this. We didnt do this to get more money as customer suggested to my oil supplier. We have unlimited supply as long as we pay in 3 days. We have only had one bad check so 3 days has always worked. We are a good little company and have one complaint from one customer that bounced a check. For the over [redacted] deliveries and [redacted] gallons moved since September of 2013 we feel we are doing the best we can. Customers neighbor and employee still buy from Us cash on delivery. Someone always home to check tank for leaks after fill and pay cash. real good customer just deliver on Tues to house in front of this customer. His attempt to damage our reputation has gotten to annoy me but is taking no affect with his local community. We would ask you to pass word on to customer that his behavior has turned childish and being a business owner for some time should be more truthful and professional in his actions. thanks [redacted] Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)We do not except this response since the [redacted] at Nathan's Oil continues to not only display poor customer service since 1/31 but Nathan's Oil can not prove anything factual.Every statement we provide we can back with paperwork, witnesses or cell phone records. I know that the Revdex.com does not get involved with disputes in regards to they said/they said so I will discuss ONLY factual data that we can provide and prove.Firs date of doing business with Nathan's Oil was not in December, it was September. We have always paid via check, and they have never had a problem, and we have never been told of bank holds or any other concerns until after 1/31/2014Dates of fill ups with supported check numbers and amounts. We can provide all cleared checks that are made out to Nathan's Oil.First Fill - September 9, 2013 - Check for [redacted] Dollars Paid Via Check [redacted] cleared 9/12/2013Second Fill - October 14, 2013 - Check for [redacted] Dollars Paid Via Check [redacted] Cleared 10/17/2013Third Fill - December 2, 2013 - Check for [redacted] Dollars Paid Via Check [redacted] Cleared on 12/6/2013Fourth Fill was January 17, 2014 - Check for [redacted]Bounced on January 21, 2013. Notified Nathan's Oil on Jan 21 that it had bounced.Re-issued check on January 25, 2014, This is the day they called us to inform that the check had actually bounced. It included all FEE'S stated by Nathan's Oil for [redacted] check [redacted] cleared on 1/28/2014[redacted] Gallons to a family in need in Leicester, Ma on January XX XXXX Check for [redacted] Paid Via check [redacted] cleared on 1/27/2014 * This is also the reason why check [redacted] bounced, these are two separate accounts and I transferred money into the wrong account thinking I had written both checks from the same account. These transfers are noted on our bank statement and the inadvertent transfer shows clearly.I will give a breakdown of corespondents with Nathan's oil - All calls were on speaker phone and either witnessed by my [redacted] or [redacted] and [redacted] Also when [redacted] did come to place of business my [redacted] and [redacted] stood behind him and witnessed our conversation. Everyone has the same account of the situation as we are writing. My banked notified on 1/21 that check [redacted] had bounced.I immediately called Nathan's oil, ON 1/21, to let them know of the situation. I told [redacted] from Nathan's Oil,that I would pay for any fees and explained the complete situation. [redacted] said she was unaware any check had bounced since her bank had not contacted her.I received a call on 1/25, from [redacted] saying they had received notice of the bounced check.I once again explained what had happened and she was very nice and had no problem with this. She stated that we had never bounced a check with them since we started working with them and she completely understood.I asked [redacted] to have her bank re-deposit the original check and I would get them the cash for the difference. [redacted] did not want to do this and said her bank would not except the original check again, she had it in hand and could not re-deposit. [redacted] stated she wanted a new check with all fee's included. I made it very clear that the other check [redacted] cannot be re-deposited. [redacted] guaranteed she would not and that she had check in hand. [redacted] stopped buy this same day and picked up a new check for [redacted] I also addressed my concern in regards to the original check with [redacted] with my [redacted] and [redacted] standing behind him, his response was about how long [redacted] had been in the business and whatever she says he will back. So if [redacted] says she will not redeposit the check then she will not "I guarantee" I trusted both statements and this is why I did not feel it necessary to void check # [redacted] On 1/28 the check for [redacted] was presented to my bank and cleared. I also called Nathans to let them know the checked had cleared. My obligation met.On 1/31 the original check for [redacted] was re-deposited to my bank, causing a catastrophic five checks to bounce in my account totally over [redacted] IN FEES.I called [redacted] at Nathan's Oil and she would not return my call. I called three times and the receptionist, very nice person and professional, told me she had told [redacted] several times that I had called. [redacted] did not call back until two days later and said she would contact her bank. [redacted] called me back that very afternoon and tried to blame me and my bank for re-depositing the original check, makes no sense, they had the check and they re-deposited it.I asked for her bank to call me, which they did, and they said that the original bounced check caused all of the problems. I asked about the check re-deposit policy and they said it would have been re-deposited the day after it was returned. It was returned on 1/21/2014 and not re-deposited again until 1/31/2014. I asked why it took so long and the person said it must have been given back to the company who deposited it, because it was re-deposited on 1/31 and it would have never taken this long. At this point, abruptly, the phone hung up and then a [redacted] called me back within a few minutes and said they would not discuss any banking polices since I was not a member of the bank, have a good day.I tried on many times to talk with [redacted] in regards to fees that I incurred from others. I have all the bank fees available. She truly wanted nothing to do with this and just kept avoiding the fault that they caused. She ended up not talking or returning my calls so I left message that I was going to contact the Revdex.com and the Attorney General's Office if [redacted] did not call me back to discuss this. [redacted] called and refused to listen to me, would not let me get one word in period, blamed me for everything, hung up the phone and would call me back yelling telling me he was going to have me arrested, get a harassment order, take me to court and sue me for triple damages all witnessed by my [redacted] and [redacted]on speaker phone. No words can even say what then what happened. My [redacted] wrote a review on YELP in regards to our experience with his company. He then proceeded to write 3 reviews on our business site, the [redacted] on yelp, personally attacking my [redacted] and I. He then attacked my [redacted] and I on his own Yelp site. He then attacked us on Facebook. I will point out two things - we have all the copies of these attacks plus if you are familiar with Yelp they never take down reviews. Not only did they take them down they sent us e-mails, which we have copies, that they would support us in any type of slander proceedings, if needed. One last thing, this is not [redacted] first time having these types of issues, other people have written statements on other sites in regards to his temper and unprofessional nature. Yet this is not the problem at hand. All we wanted was to have the fees paid that we were assessed, do to Nathan's Oil re-depositing the original check [redacted] I was going to settle for just [redacted] for the fee's from others but now I want the full [redacted] that was assessed to my [redacted] and I.Also my neighbor and employee will probably buy from Nathan's since we had given such high recommendation and I will not try and change anyone experience with Nathans Oil We wanted to make sure people are aware of what they did, So, we wrote a review under a name that is not associated with my [redacted] or myself, so people would not be swayed by who we are. Let people find out about [redacted] temper and business practices on their own.Our sole purpose for this is to get the bank fees paid to us that were wrongfully caused by the actions of Nathan's Oil.
