[redacted] called late June, and I told her the company was 2-3 weeks out. She understood. I said I would do my best to fit her into our busy summer schedule, and did. We told her, as we do all customers who receive a new Non-conventional cooler install, that the cooler pad would have an odor, and to...

run with pump on  fro a few days to dissipate odor. She called back, the same day complaining of the smell. I told her I would return with some downy, per manufacturers recommendations, and drain and fill the water reservoir, which was done at no cost. We have installed over 1,000 of these exact model coolers and have never had this major of a problem. I imagine now she sits in a very comfortable home. As for the furnace being turned off, when you install a heater damper (to allow air flow for cooler) per code, you MUST shut down the furnace.

[redacted]  told me that manufacturer Suggested downy which she purchase as I did. When we went back to try this she said that she purchased some and gave it to us. We put some in and drained  refiled. She ask us to come back and do this 5 more times.  The manufacturer took the responsibility to the so called oder,( which in my opinion was no worse then any other installs). She could of called to let us know that she had new pads. I would of put them in. My opinion the manufacturer should have a least offered to have them put In for her. Please lets put this behind us. Sorry for your disappoint.

Jewell’s Mechanical hung up on me during a phone call (06/29/16), nor was my phone call returned when I left a message (06/29/16). Why would I assume that Jewell’s Mechanical would want to install the replacement cooler pads that I had obtained.My only request , as stated above, is a $75.00 settlement for the lack of professional customer service on the part of Jewell’s Mechanical to resolved the problem.As these replies from Jewell’s Mechanical become father from the truth each time, I hence-forth refuse to dignify any future correspondence with a response.I will, however, upon receiving the $75.00, acknowledge, via B.B.B. the receipt of the same.[redacted]The above is a reply to the attached correspondence.

August 26, 2016Revdex.com7007 Jefferson St NE Ste AAlbuquerque, NM 8710-4450Re: ID#[redacted] - Jewell’s Mechanical Contracting, Inc.This is a reply to the attached corresspondence from Jewell’s Mec.The smell emitting from the cooler pads was no mere “odor”; it was a permeating stench that I could not tolerate. Jewell’s Mechanical did not return to my home to breathe the air, so how could they judge the unacceptable air quality.They did not call the manufacture of the cooler pads to determine the underlying cause of the problem. I did (Munters of Fort Myers, Fl. ph: ###-###-####) and I was told: 1) sometimes pads become “over-cured” and do emitt a deep, smoky burnt smell that does not dissipate in timely fashion 2) rinsing the pads with Downy Fabric softener is NOT recommended, Munters recommends using a solution of Potassium Permanganate mixed with water (1 tsp to 5 gal. of water) to flush the pads with this solution and then drain the reservoir, refill with fresh water, then again turn on the pump and the fan for operation. 3) In response to my complaint, Munters sent me a new set of pads (at no charge) and a package of the Potassium Permanganate (also at no charge) with which to rinse the pads.No, Jewell’s Mechanical did not return with the Downy Fabric softener to rinse the pads. I supplied the Downy (see attached Wal-mart receipt) for the Jewell’s employee to use on 6/28.No, for over a week (June 29-July 8) I did not live in a cool home, as I did not run the cooler as I could not tolerate the foul odor, while I waited for the replacement pads to arrive. As I had to assume Jewell’s mechanical did not wish to work for me, I had to hire another service company to remove the offensive pads and install the new pads, 7 / 8, rinse them for one hour before the fan was turned on.  In regard to the furnace shut off, Jewell’s Mechanical maybe correct, but in the past 15 years in this house I have never had another service company quote code ruling to me in regard to this matter.My name is spelled, [redacted], not [redacted].Again, my final statement to the B.B.B. in regard to Jewell’s Mechanical is their utter lack of customer service in dealing with a customer complaint (busy work season or not). Customer satisfaction should be a #1 priority and it certainly was not with my experience.[redacted]
