National Council for Certified Personal Trainers (NCCPT) Reviews (25)

Review: I received an email stating that I could purchase an extension for my Personal training certificate for $25. I thought this was a great deal because for several weeks I had received emails and calls about taking my test for much more money. I purchased the deal and then I received a call May 7th from [redacted] stating that the deal I purchased was no good and I would have to pay $100 more to retake the test. I asked for a refund and he said that the credit would stay on my account. I said this wasn't acceptable because I had been receiving calls and emails from several representatives wanting me to retake the test. He said there was nothing he could do. So I called back and spoke with Taylor N. who said she was a supervisor. She said that I should have read the fine print in the email because it says that people need to call to see if they are eligible for an extension. I asked her why would the company send me that email if I wasn't eligible and why would representatives call and email me to retake the test? She didn't offer a solution and stated that I can use the money on a t-shirt, merchandise, or pay $100 more to retake the test. I informed her I'm not going to buy a shirt or any other product from her company and that I wanted a refund. She didn't offer any solutions.Desired Settlement: Refund the $25 because obviously this was false advertising.

Response:

NCCPT does its best when it sends out offers to ensure that the offer only goes to eligible students. The reason [redacted]a was ineligible for the extension is because she had already taken the CPT exam three times. Unfortunately, she was still sent the offer. Although we are aware that glitches like this can happen, which is why we posted on the website to call to ensure eligibility, I can completely understand [redacted]a's frustration, and her account has been refunded.

Since the policy states that the exam can only be taken three times within one year, [redacted]a will be eligible to take the exam again in July 2014 and we look forward to offering her that opportunity. We will also extend a 30% discount on her retake if she chooses to do so.

Review: I Recently purchased the Personal Training Test for $299. I purchased the PT manual Additionally for $40. I recently became unable to use the exam due to Deployment. They are stating that they can't refund me due to the "inteluctual information" I've obtained. I asked for the opportunity to be certified to be refunded, not the informaion ive recieved for free (which I purchased in hard copy anyways) Very rude customer service when I called about this issue.Desired Settlement: I simply want my $299 test fee refunded. I am keeping the manual I purchased and plan on using NCCPT for future certifications, Unless they continue to treat a paying customer so disgusting.

Review: I purchased an online program to become a physical trainer at my own pass and it was to last a full year. I have two jobs and attend school and purchased this in order to update my application for physician's Assistant School. I activated the program in May of 2013 and tried loggin in November of 2013 on a vacation and was locked out. In February today I have anther chance to start the program and called group on the vender and was referred to call the nccpt 1800 number so I did. When I called I spoke to a [redacted] and as I told him that I was trying to log in but could not. He told me that he suspended my account after six months of no activity. I told him that that was not the deal I signed up. Joe did not let me speak he spoke over me every time I tried to speak. Joe wanted to charge me $75 dollars more to reinstate my account. I refused to pay because I bought a whole year and that is what was advertised. As I told him that I was not going to pay I asked to speak to a manager and he said he is the only one in charge of my account except for the owner. He said no one would reactivate my account unless I paid $75 more. Every time he would say I don't under stand if you where serious about being a trainer then whey would you wait. I would start to explain and would speak over me and not let me answer. As I patiently waited for him to stop speaking I would then start all over again and he would talk over me again. I told him that if this is what he was going to do I would give his company bad reviews and wait for the owner to call me back. The owner did and has not yet called me. I was cheated out of $148 and since November have not been able to use any educational videos that I paid for on the nccpt site. I hope Revdex.com is able to get me a refund because if someone like. [redacted] is employed there I want nothing to do with their company.Desired Settlement: I rather have a refund of the $148 as I wanted to become a personal trainer for my own knowledge and status to put on my application for Physician's Assistant. I rather not have to deal with a company that employs people like Joe Lafaunt.

Response:

Consistent with most certification programs, our policy clearly states that student who enrolls in our program has six months to take their first exam attempt. This information is sent to the student via email upon enrollment, as well as being publicly available on our website. A customer service representative contacted Noel and was able to resolve the complaint. We are looking forward to seeing Noel complete the course and become a Certified Personal Trainer!

Review: After successful completion of the NCCPT exam in July, I was to receive my personal training certification card in the mail within 30 days. On Aug. 26th, I called their customer service line to inquire when I would receive my card, so that I could begin work in the personal training field. (I had a job offer at LA Fitness, but had to show proof of certification with the NCCPT card.) The service rep told me the card was mailed out via First Class US mail and I should be receiving the card within 5 days. I called back the customer service line on Sept 4th when my card had not yet arrived. The service rep said the card had been mailed out Aug. 4th to the wrong address. I asked for another card to be issued and sent to the correct address. She said that she could not do that. I asked if there was a tracking number to track the card. She said no. I asked how I go about getting another card, she said I would have to pay for another card. I asked to speak with the manager. The manager informed me that the card had been mailed out on Aug. 23rd to the wrong address. I asked again for another card to be issued and sent to the correct address. She said that would be a $20 charge. I told her that part of the cost of the program was a free card and that I paid a lot of money to take their course. She said that I had paid with a 50% off Groupon coupon, so that I got a great deal, and that I did not pay that much for the course. She then informed me that since I did not pay full price for the course, that I could afford to pay an additional $20 for a new card. I feel that because I used a discounted coupon that NCCPT offered on Groupon that they are trying to get as much money from me as possible.Desired Settlement: I would like my personal training certification card sent to me and a $20 refund.

Response:

NCCPT strives to provide excellent customer service regardless of how much a person purchases our course for.

NCCPT sends out certificates to the address provided by the customer, and it is the responsibility of the customer

to provide us with their correct address. If NCCPT sends a certificate to the wrong address, through no fault of

customer, a new certificate is issued at no additional charge. If the customer does not notify NCCPT of their change

of address and then requests a new certification be issued and resent, they must pay a small fee for this service.

This is only fair and reasonable.

Since this complaint was filed the customer has requested a refund from their credit card company and NCCPT

has sent their new certificate, and we wish them well in their career.

Review: In June of 2013 I passed the personal trainers certification exam given by National Council for Certified Personal Trainers (NCCPT). As September approaches I have yet to receive a hard copy of proof I passed the course. Therefore, I am being held up on possible employment opportunities.Desired Settlement: I am simply requesting to receive the hard copy of my certification.

Response:

Hello [redacted],

I do see that you passed the exam in June, congratulations! NCCPT sends out a hard copy of all certified personal trainers within 30 days of passing the exam.

When I pulled up your account, it does not appear that we have your mailing address. I'm not sure why, however, we did migrate our data to a new system

in July (you may have noticed we have a new website). If you email your address and name to info@[redacted].com I will personally make sure a hard copy of your

certification is sent to you.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Also please note that we do show you certified in our system and are available to verify your status

with any prospective employers in the mean time via phone call or email as well.
