I am rejecting this response because: I do not accept the resolution as the hospital staff clearly stated that there will be no charge beyond my $co-pay

National DME (NDME) supplies medical equipment through hospitals
and clinics.  Other than stocking the
hospital supply room, we do not have any staff on site “deceiving”
patients.  The staff at the hospitals and
clinics make the decisions on providing care and equipment to the...

patient.  The hospital and clinic staff also obtains
the patient’s signature for the medical equipment.  We educate the medical providers on how to
consult with their patients regarding our services so that the patient fully
understands their responsibilities when receiving the equipment; however, it is
up to the medical providers to do so.

The form that the patient signed is very clear.  The title of the signature line reads
“Responsible party’s signature – Please see reverse side of this form”.  On the back of the form, in very easily
readable, medium font text is an explanation of the patient’s responsibility,
including the words “you are, however, ultimately responsible to pay any portion
of any NDME equipment you receive that is not covered by insurance”.

NDME billed both items to the patients insurance.  The patient’s insurance determined that both
items were the responsibility of the patient.
The wrist brace was applied to the patient’s deductible and the arm
sling was denied as not covered, but still the patient’s responsibility as
deemed by the insurance company.  If the
patient has a complaint regarding his insurances lack of coverage he should be
contacting his insurance

Additionally, printed on the back of the form is the
sentence “You have received and inspected the prescribed equipment and you find
it in good condition”.   I show no record
that the patient ever attempted to return or exchange the items.  Returns of equipment are rare once the
patient receives the equipment and leaves the medical provider’s facility
because medical equipment, especially medical equipment worn next to the skin
is generally not reusable.

 We are willing to
work with patients on pricing and often offer discounts if the item is not
covered by the patient’s insurance; however, using the Revdex.com
as a tool to avoid paying for equipment signed for and used by the patient is
not behavior National DME would like to encourage or reward.  For that reason we will continue with our
standard billing process.

To reiterate from above, Mr. [redacted]’s attempts to extort NDME
by slandering the company through the Revdex.com has only strengthened our resolve on
the matter.  NDME is not seeking Mr.
[redacted]’s acceptance of a resolution other than to have him pay for the products
that he signed for and used.  Mr. [redacted]’s
dispute is with the hospital and his insurance company, not the supplier of
medical equipment.

The paperwork signed by [redacted] is signed in triplicate and a copy is provided to the patient upon signing.  Now that Mr. [redacted] has requested an additional copy of the paperwork he signed, a copy has been sent to him.  Once again, if Mr. [redacted] is unhappy with his insurance coverage, he should be talking to his insurance company.  The determination of Mr. [redacted]'s financial responsibility was made SOLELY by his insurance company.  NDME is simply billing as dictated by Mr. [redacted]'s insurance.

Dme is billing me more than the patient responsibility as per select med insurance.
Dme is charging me more than the patient responsibility as per select med insurance. I have talked to select med who states that they cannot bill for more than patient responsibility. I have tried to talk to dme about this but they state it is correct. They have since sent me to collections for this. I have been told that it is illegal to charge more than patient responsibility. The EOB from select med states patient responsibility is $33.01 and they are billing me 50.78. I also had another statement from th.em in the eamount of $1.65. I called them on this one also and stated the EOB said patient responsibility was $0.00. They were happy to fix that problem and take the $1.65 off.
The date of service on the wrist brace was 2/25/13 . The claim was processed on 8/13/13. The statement was dated 9/18/13. I called them the beginning of November and it was already sent to collections.
