National Guardian Life Insurance Company Reviews (5)

My 84 year old father got a letter from NGI today about a rate increase on his life insurance. Increases are expected. However, his rate went from $225 per quarter to $662 per quarter!!! That's quite an "increase"! I knew it had to be a mistake, but it is not!

He's paid on this for 23 years, and this is the thanks he gets. In other words, as you're nearing the age to cash that the policy will be "cashed out," they'll make it too expensive for you to keep! Perhaps all insurers do this, but this is my first experience and I am disgusted.

He cannot afford that big a budget increase in as. He was so depressed & sickened, that he was just going to cash it out. However, this company claims he'd only get $3000...after paying premiums for 23 years???

This company is revolting. Beware.

Review: I am a senior citizen been harassed by a telemarketer selling burial insurance. I ask them not to call on 10/26/2014 but they have ignored my request and call continuously. They robo call and use different numbers but the latest is [redacted].

[redacted] Please note that I have never contacted this or any other company about this product. I mention this, because when unscrupulous telemarketers get caught, they claim that the person complaining has contacted them or an affiliate. Also, I have been on the national Do Not Call List since its inception.

Thank you.Desired Settlement: I want them to remove my number from their list globally and all their affiliates an not give or sell it to others .

[redacted]. My mother purchased a $30,000 life policy 40+ years ago. Initially her premium was $25/month and has increased as expected. But since she's turned 80, there was a considerable jump! In less than 5 years, she will have paid more in premiums than the policy's value. The policy has no cash value now and will only pay $30,000 in the event of her death. She either continues to pay premiums or loses all she's paid over the years! Basically, if you purchase life insurance, you're gambling on dying young! Put your money in an account where it can grow instead!

Review: I have had this insurance policy well over 20 years. I have always had a local representative, agent [redacted]., only after I made several attempts to contact my agent, unsuccessfully last month, did I call the company directly, to confirm my recent monthly payment was received. In December 2015, I was informed they haven't received a payment from "me", since October 2014, taking in consideration I have paid my premium directly to my "agent" all of the years I've had this insurance, I informed the company I can provide proof of payment, since 2014 via money order receipts, that I mail monthly... Ironically after this phone call, I then receive a letter from my assigned agents wife, mailing back only my last Dec.,2015 payment, insisting her husband is ill & no longer in business as an insurance agent, & she doesn't know where my payments should be sent... This is then followed up by an audit letter from the insurance company detailing payments & showing that monthly payments has been behind for a couple of years, & a customer service rep informed me that sometimes agents will wait/hold payments to send for all their assigned clients at once, so late payments of a customer that's assigned to an agent is not anything that cause an alarm to the company, or cause the coverage to lapse, however, me as a consumer thought that I should have been notified from the company. As instructed, I start faxing in receipts from Oct 2014 to current, as I could find them, only to receive a revised audit letter using the first 5-6 receipts,(out of over 14 receipts), as proof of payments up to March 2015, which the receipts has dates, & prove that I not only have made payments the current 15months, but they are always made within the due date timeframe, to be paid timely. The first audit letter stated I owed $316.50, & now the revised letter has $220.00, by 1/21/16, or coverage will forfeit or lapse, AFTER OVER 20 YEARS.

My complaint is that after proving that I make timely monthly payments the company is trying to hold me accountable for their employee, my ASSIGNED agent, that was not submitting my payments timely, if at all. I feel as if the agent has stole from me & the company is attempting to hold me liable, & I can not afford to repay to the company, what was already paid directly to their agent.Desired Settlement: I have proved proof of payment & I am current & up to date with my payments. The only payment due for January should be January's monthly premium covering all of my policies, of $31.65. I am trying to avoid legal actions, so I would like for the company to acknowledge & address the issue with their agent & just bring my policy account balance up to date with only the current one monthly premium that is due.

Response:

Based on receipts provided by customer for payments given to her agent, NGL will be applying the missing funds to policy. I have spoken with Ms. [redacted] to discuss her complaintand believe we have resolved the issue. Ms. [redacted] will begin receiving premium notices directly from NGL and all future premium payments will be sent directly to us instead of her agent.

The first time I ever heard of National Guardian Life Insurance was about a week ago when I received a robocall from a call center trying to sell me "Final Expense" life insurance. It was clearly evident that the call center was robo-dialing random numbers because the representative that came on after the recorded sales pitch had no idea who they were calling. I pointed that the call was ILLEGAL because my number was on the National Do Not Call Registry and told the representative not to call here again.

Today I received another identical ILLEGAL robocall from the same call center still trying to sell me the same Final Expense Life Insurance from National Guardian Life Insurance. Again I reminded the representative that the call was illegal and told him not to call again.
