I contacted National Legal Staffing Support (Kevin P Mason P.A & GM Law Firm LLC) to litigate my private student loans for predatory lending. I was told by Patricia Majkowski, that I had to stop paying the student loan debt and pay them in which the money would go into escrow while they litigated my loans. I was told the payments would be for 3 years and I would owe nothing after that even if litigation took longer. I was told that there would be 2 outcomes from litigation: a dismissal of debt or a settlement in which payment for settlement would be made from the escrow account I paid into. I then received documents that stated I was being taking to court for the loans. I questioned National Legal Staffing, Kenny Louis, who told me that is the process for litigation. Anytime request were made to speak with a lawyer, there was no returned call or response from an attorney. Before going to court I was told by Attorney Thomas Cifelli that if there was a settlement I would have to pay additional funds out of pocket to pay the settlement. I told Mr. Cifelli what was told to me upon signing up and if he was told to me the way it was happening now I would have never agreed. I had never missed a loan payment and only stop paying because they told me to in order to litigate the predatory lending. I explained to him that no one would agree to terms of going into bed debt just to pay someone to meditate them a settlement. I could do that myself. Mr. Cifelli stated he would speak with Chantele Grant, the owner in giving me a refund. After Mr. Cifelli spoke with Ms. Grant he notified me that she said they could only refund me no more that $500 towards my settlement. I told Mr. Cifelli that I would be signing a complaint because they are misleading and getting people into debt to pocket themselves.

Refund I want a refund of payments made in the amount of $10,949.40

the Claims Mrs. is making are ill found and flat out not true. Mrs. signed a retainer agreement with the Gm Law firm the explicitly outlines the terms of the law firms responsibilities and duties in representing Mrs. in the contract disputes she hired the firm to do. it was never told to Mrs. that we would be holding "money in escrow". as a law firm we do not do anything of the sort. the money she pays to the attorney is a legal retainer fee. the was discussed and accepted prior to engaging with the firm. we are willing to work with Mrs. to resolve this amicably but a refund of the money she paid to her attorney for their time and hard work on her file is not warranted. Further more, Mrs. decided to fire the firm and no longer be represented prior to us completing the file. he actions directly negatively effected her case and is what has prevented us from finishing what she hired the firm to do.
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
National Legal Staffing is lying. I never fired them or GM Law Firm. I went to court on 9/17/19 for a settlement agreement with SLM (see attached). The only document I signed was a limited power of attorney that was suppose to allow them to speak with the credit bureaus so my credit was affected during the litigation process (attached). They also gave me the consumer handbook on how my private loan defense would be handled. (attached)
