National Minority Quality Forum

Review: Representing my non-profit institution, I was invited to attend and speak at the National Minority Quality Forum's meeting. I was informed that this meeting was for "senior healthcare executives from minority-serving tertiary care centers, distinguished leaders in the field of cancer health disparities, academic experts, and community advocates."I was informed that "an honorarium and compensation for travel and lodging will be provided". The airfare expense incurred as a personal expense, since I had to book my own travel as a result of not receiving timely follow-up on travel arrangements. At this meeting, I discovered that it was mostly attended by pharmaceutical and for-profit industry (94% of the 35 attendees listed). This concerned me since I was not informed that they were going to be my primary audience and my scope of work does not involve addressing for-profit sectors. I submitted a reimbursement form and supporting document for my airfare expense. I was told that a signature from a staff member was required and I was to expect a check by early-mid April. After not receiving anything or getting a response back, I attempted to address the issue. No one responded back to me. I have been conducting business with the non-profit sector for several years and never encountered these kinds of practices or outcomes.Desired Settlement: I would like to be refunded $505.80 for the airfare expenses I incurred personally.
