Review: To whom it may concern,On June 6, 2013 I went to the US Post Office the [redacted] station to send an application to renew my passport, and as recommended I sent it certified mail and enclosed a check for the payment. They claim the normal processing time takes up to 8 weeks. I waited for more than 3 months and I never received the new passport in the mail. I called the number on the receipt and entered the tracking number and I was informed that the package was received on June 7, 2013, at the lock box,in Philadelphia, PA. To this date my documents have not been found and I was told that I need to re-submit the application. However, I now must pay an additional fee of 25.00 in addition to the 110.00 for the cost of the new application, and what about the lost documents? These are still out there somewhere and I have been told that there is nothing that they can do about that. My suggestion to them was that I should be provided with some type of document from the post office stating that my application, original passport book, along with the check, was lost at their facility. I feel a letter of this sort may be a protection for me in the future because we live in a day and age where many people have become victims of identity theft and I feel that I need something from the postal service that could give me a little peace of mind. However, it appears that no one has ever requested such documentation in the past (and I am sure that I am not the only one that this has happened to), therefore,they feel that it will not be necessary to accommodate my request. Also, I feel that there should be some compensation or some accountability for this inconvenience. I am aware that things do go wrong from time to time, but having my passport book and application that contains sensitive information floating around is something that is very unnerving and anyone would be concerned about these items being lost.I would greatly appreciate any help you can provide. Thank you in advance for all you do.Desired Settlement: I would like to receive a letter from the National Passport Processing Center of PA, acknowledging their responsibility for the lost passport application. And I feel that the fees for the [redacted] and [redacted] should be waived. As a customer, I followed their direction to mail the documents certified mail and I feel that there should be some accountability for this error.

Thank you for assisting me to resolve my issue with the National Passport Center in Portsmouth, NH. I am happy to say that they responded to your inquiry and have since worked it out for me to reapply for my passport and they made arrangements to provide credit protection for one year. On November 26, 2013 I received my passport..
