canadianvesselregistry.ca is ***!!!
No service, no refund money.
When I did cancel service and asked refund money I got this email ->

To Whom It May Concern:
I accidently registered online with whom I thought was *** to change the
registration of a boat I purchased. After I inputted everything in the computer and submitted
the information I quickly realized that this was the incorrect website. This was done on a
Sunday evening. I immediately sent a message via the National Vessel Registry Center informing
them that I had registered by accident and to cancel my application. 3 Days later I received a
reply telling me that they wouldn’t refund me and that they would cancel my application but
would charge me anyways. I contacted my credit card company and they in fact ran my card on
the Monday even after I had requested to cancel my application.
The credit card company may or may not refund me but in the meantime I received a second
email from them telling me if I try and cancel the charge through my credit card company they
will place a lien on my boat.
This company is actually *** people off.

Went to register my boat with transport Canada. This site looks like it is a government website. I paid $135.00 x 2.....for 2 boats. When I received the confirmation email it didn't look right. I immediately requested them to cancel. They charged my credit card and basically stated too late

This website/company is 100% a ***. They are charging a fee for a free service, disguising themselves as the government website. They will not provide a refund even if an application has been unprocessed. I have disputed the credit charge card as no service has been provided.

This company is a straight up ***. They may actually do vessel transactions on your behalf with ***, ***. All disclaimers and warnings are placed at the bottom of pages so that you would never actually see them for most transactions. Deal directly with TC to avoid this ***!

I needed a boat license and when you go online the first thing that comes up is the Canada vessel registry. It looks like it is a government site. Getting a license is a free service which I did not know at the time of trying to get my license. The people who run this site should tell you that when you are phoning in, people like myself are unfamiliar with the rules and this company preys upon that. I have received nothing from them and paid $135.00. When I called the actual government site I got my license instantly. There website and people on the phone need to tell people this so they are not stealing money from unsuspecting people.

I was looking to register my boat with Transport Canada and got on to what I thought was a government website. They went to great lengths to make it look very official using pictures of coast guard vessels and maple leaves like the government website. Their only tip that it isn't Transport Canada is in small print at the bottom (of coarse) which you would never see unless you thought something was wrong. I lodged my application after business hours Feb 13th and withdrew it by 11 am Feb14th when I discovered they weren't the government website they were masquerading as.
Several attempts have been made to get a refund. They only refer me to the fine print saying no refund. So no services provided for the $525 ***.

This companies website is misleading when an internet search is done to transfer a boat license . They seem to be handling the process as Transport Canada when they are not. They charge $135.00 which doesn't appear until a person has started to apply for a license transfer. They do not advise you until after they have charged you that they are not Transport Canada and that they are charging a fee. When you realize the mistake and ask for your money back, even though it's only a few minutes, they refuse and point to a no refund policy which is not noted anywhere until after they have bilked you.

Hi. In conversation with credit card rep, I explained that I feel *** out of $135.00 by a company that has a webpage that looks like it is *** Canada. It is NOT!! This *** web page is very user friendly and looks professional unlike the actual *** Canada website, In this case I was doing a simple transfer of ownership of a pleasure craft , fishing boat. A very easy form to fill out with *** Canada.
The *** website has three steps lets you click on transfer of ownership, opens a window for personal info, then next opens a window that askes for payment of $135.00, (*** Canada does not charge for this) I assumed something had changed and went ahead and put in my credit card number . Then they send an e-mail asking for more info and at this point I realized this site was not *** Canada. I sent an e-mail back requesting cancellation stating this:
We will not be uploading any documents to complete this transaction. We have called the ph # on the website and verbally cancelled this application and Credit Card Transaction. Please also take this reply as our written cancellation of the application and cancellation of the Credit Card Transaction. We will apply to *** Canada ourselves.
They then sent an e-mail stating that: all application and processing fees submitted remain non-refundable.

This is not right, they have done nothing and the fees should be refunded, I gave no information to complete transfer. This all took place in a short time.
I am asking that you post this complaint. Thank you

I would rate zero starts for this company. This company is a *** and will not refund. It does not cost anything to register your vessel through ***. All the same documentation can be directly uploaded to ***'s website. It is unclear that they are a 3rd party vendor until after you submit application. I contacted them immediately and they hide behind email and their terms and conditions. I have submitted a dispute.

Beware of the approach this company uses, its strategy is to look close enough to the legitimate government registration site and take a payment early in the process. The payment process does have an accept 'term and conditions' button and hidden in the condition are to important items, one they declare they are not the government and two there is no refund. They are relying on people assuming reasonable customer conditions to push the accept button without reading the fine print. My bad, I fell in this trap. Interestingly enough I had a complete email quoting the fine print very quickly when I asked for a refund. This company's business model is built on buying top search on *** to get the first click, have a similar look to the legitimate government site.
Buyer beware!!!

. They hide the fine print with colour you can't read and even show what appears to be a Coast Guard vessel at the top of their website. I discovered my mistake when I was told by the dealer that there is no charge for registering with Transport Canada so I cancelled. Their response was ok but you're not getting a refund. *** disagrees. Have your credit card company lodge an inquiry/dispute and have the charge reversed.

This company is *** leading people to believe tjey are dealing with Transport Canada.
They charged $135 for registering a boat in Canada that is free if done through the federal transport canada website.
They disguise themselves as official Canadian government.
I have seen many complaints now, how do they remain being able to deceive people like this?

As other complaints to this business regarding refund I feel the link to registration is too close to Transport Canada and one seems to think they are dealing with TC when in fact they are not. I completed the application on May 21 at 10:36 am and realized I was not dealing with TC on May 21 at 10:45 am when I sent the company an email requesting cancellation of the application and a credit be applied on my credit card for the payment made of $135. I received a reply email on May 23 at 8:15 am advising me of the no refund policy. I did not see that at any time. I was to submit further documentation and my signed authorization. I chose not to send once I cancelled by email. They replied all work would stop and I can reinstate my request within 3 days. I chose not to and had all the application and licensing done with Transport Canada within minutes.

Not unlike the other complaints listed, I needed to register my new boat with ***, when I searched the web site and clicked on ***, I was taken to this 3rd party site that I was unaware was not ***. I filled out all the forms and paid $135.00 on my credit card not realizing this was not ***. After doing so, I found out this can be
completed through the *** Website free of charge. I emailed and called immediately after and tried to get my money back. They refused to refund my money and sent me all their small print. Canadian Vessel Registration are charging a fee for something that is free to complete yourself. ***.

This company somehow has their website too similar to Transport Canada site or is able to redirect to their site.

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /(3000, 7, 2018/10/21) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
There should be a reasonable timeframe for a refund.

I *** Transport Canada and their site came up extremely similar to Transport Canadas site. I was unexpecting of a third party would come up and very much look like a government site.

I realized the error quickly but they would not refund my money. I did not cancel my file because I want to resolve this issue. They told me that if I cancel they would close my file and I would lose my money but I will lose my money either way because they will not refund my money.

Like I said, there should be a reasonable timeframe for a refund. In my opinion any respectful business would refund money when a customer asks for it quickly. My first thought is that this company relies on people making an error by mistaking their site as Transport Canadas site.

As a solution, I believe they should change their web site to look less government for one and two, allow a reasonable refund timeframe and if they need the money so bad maybe have a 10% handling charge.

No refund is totally unacceptable and wrong.

Final Business Response /(4000, 9, 2018/10/24) */

This message is written in response to the complaint posted above by Mr. *** regarding his New Pleasure Craft Licence request.

As detailed in the original response to Mr.' complaint, the service request submitted was submitted online at www.nationalvesselregistry.ca, and is therefore subject to its Terms and Conditions of Use, which are available in full at ***

Furthermore, he also personally agreed to the following Authorization Statement at time of purchase:

Authorization
I agree to pay the above total amount according to the card issuer agreement and hereby authorize the charge for the total amount above for the processing of selected Transport Canada documents. I understand that my application will be processed in the order in which it is received by National Vessel Registry Center Corp, a third-party fee for service company. I understand that application and processing fees are non-refundable as per National Vessel Registry Center Corp.

Days after submitting, and after operations already began to fulfill Mr. ***' submission, Mr. requested his application to be cancelled on August 31, 2018. The Documentation Processor assigned to his request reiterated the Cancellation Policy that his application was subject to, and offered Mr. an opportunity to retract his cancellation request.

*** then responded to the message by retracting his prior cancellation, requesting operations to be continued on his file. Processors then confirmed this update to his file by email on October 10, 2018.
At this time, operations have been resumed on his application, as Mr. has requested. On October 12, 2018, *** submitted additional documents, including a color photo of his vessel by email as requested to move forward with his submission.

His application is currently ongoing, and well within the average completion window for such applications.
*** chose to retract the cancellation request for his application and is now receiving the service he'd originally requested.

In short, Mr. requested the service via the website according to the site's Terms, then requested its cancellation, and then personally contacted NVRC requesting that process completed, which is now already underway.
*** is now receiving the service he'd requested, and has repeatedly acknowledged the nonrefundable nature of the funds submitted
Therefore, as previously-detailed, no refund or rebate is due.

Final Consumer Response /(4200, 11, 2018/10/27) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
At minimum they should change their policy to allow for a refund at least during the first 48 hours or even 24hours. Even if they had a 10% handling fee would be better than no refund at all. I'm not the only person that has mistaken their website for Transport Canada. Also, they should change the website front photo from a Canadian Coast Guard ship that creates an image of Government and replace it with a photo of a privet vessel.

I know I will never see a refund but I would be satisfied if they changed their no refund policy to at least a limited refund policy and change the photo on their website so other people do not get caught thinking they are on a government site. Not many people read all the fine print when dealing with government and that's why I missed their small print and I am sure that's why others have as well. Just read some of the reviews they have. This is a common theme.

we registered our boat with this site not realizing this was not the government site until it was too late. We called as soon as we hit submit and recieved no answer so an email was sent immediately (within 1 hour) of application submission to ask for cancellation. After no response and several phone calls from me later, we were told we had to email again. Sent the email, several days later we were told no refunds. We explained that doesn't make sense as the application wasn't processed and therefore no money should be taken but they charged our credit card anyway. They then told us the processing fee is $125 but our credit card was charged $365. We've since responded to that email several times and followed up via phone only to be told they'd have to call us back. This has been ongoing for 4 months now.

I needed to transfer the pleasure craft Licence through transport Canada When I searched the web site and clicked on transport Canada, I was taken to this 3rd party site that I was unaware was not transport Canada. I completed the application and was unsure of the fee as the transfer is a free service. I called transport Canada and they advised that no application was received. An email was received from the company and noted that it was not from transport Canada. I called the company and they advised to send an email to have my application canceled and funds refunded. I followed the direction and received another email indicating my application was canceled and the funds are non refundable. No further documentation were forwarded so no work could be completed on the application.

Hello,

I wanted to delete my sailboat registry and found this business web site online and thought that this is the government web site where I am supposed to apply for my deletion of the vessel.

After I sumbited the application right after I looked way bellow the page and noticed that it is a 3rd party, right away I tried to call the company on their 1800 nr. no one responded, left a message, then right away left a message on chat on the web site the chat was not active so I had to leave a written message, after multiple tries, and multiple emails finally someone responded telling me that this service is NON refundable... How is this possible??? The application is not even started, I just realized a=right after that it is not the government web site, although it is made to look very legit...so I was told that the funds are NON refundable, plain and simple....although no service was yet provided ...
