Review: We engaged National Water Servicing to install a new well pump and system and to run water from our well to our pasture and barn. The representative, [redacted], came out to our home and quoted us a price of $7,000-$10,000 for the entire job. No contract was ever provided to us, nor was a written quote provided. I REPEAT: WE NEVER SIGNED A CONTRACT WITH NWS.
Work began immediately, and I requested more detailed information on the cost of the job several times. [redacted] acknowledged in several emails the quoted range of $7,000-$10,000 (which is a pretty wide range in my opinion), but would never provide an exact figure or a tally of where the cost was at any given time after the work began, despite mutiple requests.
We put down a $5,000 deposit before the job began, and work commenced immediately. Upon completion of the job, I have a system that still requires the filter to be changed multiple times per week in order to have decent water pressure (even though he tested the water and the system, he claims now that there is a problem with our well), the water at my barn is green and slimy and full of iron, and the waterer installed for the horses barely functions.
A few weeks after completion of the work, National Water Servicing then submitted a bill to us for $14,300 - over 100% more than the low end of their quote and 50% more than the high end. [redacted] claims he unexpectedly had to install an extra part. He never discussed this with us, got our permission for the increased cost, nor received a signed change order. I priced out the items on the invoice and found them for sale on line at retail prices of 1/3 - 1/2 of the price we were invoiced for.
Since the delivery of this invoice, I have tried to discuss this cost discrepancy multiple times with both [redacted] and Accounts Receivable. I have sent emails and received no response. Today, my husband and I were threatened with a lawsuit by the company's VP. He claims that we now owe $15,000 because interest has been accruing. AT WHAT RATE COULD INTEREST POSSIBLY ACCRUE THAT WE WOULD OWE AN ADDITIONAL $700 AFTER 4 MONTHS?!?!?! The work was shoddy, the billing is shady, and this company is completely unethical.Desired Settlement: I would like the charges for the work dropped to within the quoted price range. I would like them closer to $7,000 than $10,000, due to the fact that the work was shoddy and I still have water issues. The company is claiming they are making no profit. That is their fault. They gave a quote that evidently was too low to cover their costs. I should not be losing additional money over this. This was not my fault. I agreed to the work at their stated price. Had they stated the true price up front, I would have engaged a different company altogether.
