Nationwide Auto Warranty Reviews (6)

I purchased an extended warranty through my car dealer with a guarantee that should we not claim during the warranty period, the premium would be refunded upon expiry. I have attempted to get in touch with the company on 4 different occasions now in order to obtain my refund with no response at all. I have provided the necessary information and asked the organization to let me know if they are missing anything to process my refund, again, no response. I'm simply looking to close the warranty properly, with the contract terms, now that it has expired and am getting nowhere.

Desired Outcome

Im looking to obtain the refund of premium paid as per my extended warranty contract.

*** I appreciate your request for a warranty refund for a product you purchased in December 2015. Contract #XXXXXX that you gave as a reference is a 160,000 km STB warranty that does not have a money back guarantee if you don't use the warranty. If the dealership made promises of money back guarantees than please go back and discuss with them. Also please confirm that you paid for a warranty on your Bill of Sale as our system shows contract #XXXXXX cancelled on December 9th,2015 by fax received by ***.

I sent my truck in for a oil leak rear main seal. They refused to fix it because I had a oil leak when I first got the truck but it was the oil pan not seal. *** the manger asked for the dealership to email mail him with the repairs they did and that was done. *** still refused to have rear seal fixed saying it's a pre existing oil leak and it's not it started in September when I contacted nationwide. My truck been in the shop for 13 days waiting on ***'s approval, he did not contact me I had call him to find out what's going on . He still on the oil pan leak and timing issues I said I wanna speak to his supervisor he refused to give me any info to a supervisor he continued to discuss my truck water pump and I told him 20 times in front my parents I dont want to talk to him please put me threw to a supervisor and he hung up.
He is not following threw with my warranty claim and blaming it on other issues not to repair my truck. Mechanic said the leak is beyond the rear main seal and this is a new issue not a pre existing one. *** laughed at me when I told him I'm contact the Revdex.com.

Desired Outcome

To complete repair and cost of rental car

Hi ***, we appreciate hearing your concerns regarding your vehicle. We are glad to cover your starter and your waterpump, however the oil leaking issues you have had from your vehicle since purchase is not something the warranty would cover. You advised us you went back six times for oil leaking onto your driveway. As you picked up the vehicle in April, we were confused when you returned with the vehicle for the oil leak in March. I asked for an invoice to show what work was completed. I have not received an invoice showing any repairs to resolve your major oil leak. As you have had oil leaking issues since you got the vehicle, have gone back six times for fluid leaks, and an invoice couldn't be produced to show any work was completed, we turned that portion of your claim down. This is a pre-existing condition that should have been resolved before you picked up your vehicle and not the responsibility of the warranty company.
I did let you know I was going to end the call. This is not a common practice, however you were voicing your concerns in my ear loud enough for the whole office to hear. You were not allowing for a productive conversation about your vehicle, and insulting employees verbally is not something I would allow any of the staff at Nationwide to be subjected to. I did ask you to call back when you had calmed down and we could have a rational conversation. You then phoned back 7 more times, and when I answered, hung up on me, or demanded to speak with the owner. As your concern is with the dealership where you purchased the vehicle, there was no need to provide information for the owner of Nationwide Auto Warranty.
We are going to cover the starter and the water pump that is leaking, however we would suggest you direct your concerns to where you purchased your vehicle from for the oil leaking issues. Sincerely

Regardless of how many times the truck when back to the dealer that was a oil pan leak something totally different from what I was claiming
I was claiming a rear main seal leak and it's a totally different issue that *** refused to fix
Which the warranty cover

Nationwide Auto Warranty Response • Nov 14, 2019

Hi ***, as no one has been able to provide evidence of repairs completed for the oil leak that you have been having since you purchased the vehicle, we are not able to help out with that repair. You have told us you went back six times for this oil leak and it is still not resolved. Every time you communicate with us, your story changes in your favor. We are happy to cover the water pump and the starter. We are not going to help out with your oil leak as the vehicle was sold to you that way.

I bought a warranty from Nationwide Auto Warranty and I wanted to cancel it, but they are refusing to refund me the rest of the money I paid. Saying their policy is not to refund any money after 10 days of the purchase. They said it is in the contract. When I read the cancellation section, FOR FULL REFUND the selling dealer by notifying NAW in writing within 10 DAYS. Means this section is for FULL REFUND ONLY. And I don't want a full refund I just want what is left off my money in this contract, as the contract is for 2 years.I started the contract on July 30, 2018.

Desired Outcome

A refund from the company

Nationwide Auto Warranty Response • Mar 15, 2019

A client can obtain a full refund prior to 10 days of signing a contract as per Ontario Consumer Protection Act. Our contract states exactly that. We offer no other refund provisions.

I think I have the right to cancel the agreement with them anytime and they should refund me the rest of money left after they deduct the amount for the period time of the contract since it started till the day of the cancellation

This company is a complete rip off and I will make it my mission to post my disappointment in this company through all social media. Bought a cargo van and paid over $3000 for a extended warranty up to 200,000 km. I sold the van and wanted to transfer the warranty to the new owner. I provided all the service records and submitted all the paper work. This poor excuse of a company contacts me and tells me they aren't going to transfer the warranty because I used my van commercially.no where on the contract did it say anything about commercial. *** did they think I would buy a cargo van for ( as I told the *** on the I didn't buy it to grow flowers in my driveway). No where on the contract did it say that but he said it was up to their discretion and they decided no. First it was *** that I spoke to and then I spoke to some other guy and he was even more of an Insult and I told him if that's the case they owe me over $800 because I still had 50,000 km left on the warranty. He said it's not happening. He then tries to compare it to canceling your insurance and wanting your money back, I said actually when you cancel your insurance you get money back.
This company *** about their warranty transfer. It's very disappointing actually I'm livid with the way this went down. They Messed with the wrong person and I will use social media to post the warning of using this joke of a company. If I can stop 1000 people from using this company then maybe I will feel retribution
This company is a *** stay away from them

Desired Outcome

I want this warranty transferred or I want $808.75 refunded because I still had 50,000 km left on the warranty

We hope that all of our customers are happy with our products and services however there are times we cannot accommodate every request for transfer. This is one of those times.

Nationwide warranties are for personal use vehicles only. We appreciate your honesty in what you used your truck for in your landscaping business. As well, you were honest about who you were selling it too and that they too, were going to use it for commercial purposes.

Unfortunately we do not cover commercial vehicles and transfers are subject to approval by NationWide. Below are copies of clauses from the warranty.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
No where on the contract did it say anything about personal or business use or I wouldn't have paid for the warranty. For one thing I didn't have a landscape business I had a tile business. Why would I purchase a cargo van for personal use when it's a work van. This company should have this on the warranty that they don't cover the warranty on a business vehicle. It's false advertising and this is a false contract because of the

Under section 8.2 WARRANTY COVERAGE EXCLUSION:

In my previous response I copied the verbiage from your contract where it states any "commercial use" disqualifies making a claim.

There will be no rebate as the contract allows only, for a 10 cancellation period. If you were led to believe anything other than what the contract states you will need to take it up with the Dealer who sold the contract to you. Thanks.
