Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/09/01) */
I would first like to apologize about this miscommunication. As we did call the owner of the watch to leave a message that he had left an item here, however the number on file was not in service. We then called the female that he was here with...

that was lead to be the clients girlfriend. She came back and retrieved the watch and stated that she would make sure he gets it. We do have a sign through out our establishment that states not responsible for lost or stolen items. As I believe that is displayed in many establishments such as ours. Again I apologize for this very bad miscommunication and hope that your boyfriend can retrieve his watch from his friend that was with him that day. We pride ourselves on our exceptional customer service. And will have a better system to how to resolve these matters in the future if a similar situation should arise again.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/09/02) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I do not doubt the fact that they probably have a sign hanging saying "not responsible for lost items" but if that's the case, why call and tell the customer that they left it in the first place. I think that if they make that call, and tell the customer that they have it behind the counter, reaponsibility then DOES in fact fall on the owner. Yes, his phone was out of min at the time that the owner clld to inform him that he forgot it. And yes, the owner reached him on the girls phone that he was there tanning with. And during that convo the owner of the watch told the owner of the tanning salon that HE would be back to get it at some point. The girl whose phone he reached him on on June 22nd was the SAME girl who went in and claimed to be the girlfriend. The SAME girl the owner gave the watch to without consenting with the actual owner. The SAME girl that the owner of the watch had just met and was NOT in fact his girlfriend. The SAME girl who is now in PRISON. So no... Attempting to get the watch back from said girl is NOT an option. Like I said, he barely even knew that chick. NEVER once was he asked if she was his girlfriend and NEVER once did he say she was his girlfriend. And when I had the convo with the salon owner, he laughed like it was a joke. When I asked why he didn't think to call the owner of the watch to confirm that SHE was supposed to pick it up, he laughed and said "no I made my attempt at contact once... I don't need to do it again." Well I would think that if his policy was "make only 1 attempt at contact", then why did he go as far as to call HER phone after realizing that his phone was out of minutes? After I had the pleasure of personally talking with the owner of the salon, the situation went from just the watch being the issue to then the watch and PRINCIPLES being the issues. Worst customer service I've EVER experienced in all my 34 years. And after talking with the nice girl working at the salon earlier that day several times, I most certainly did NOT think that this was what it was going to have to come to. What I'm wanting out of all this is still the watch. At first, my thought was that someone that worked there had taken it and that the owner could figure out a way to get it returned. Now, after being convinced that the salon is owned by a 12 year old, I'm left puzzled as to where it's at. Nonetheless, I would still like the watch replaced. If documentation needs to be provided to show proof that I purchased it with MY debit card and that it was purchased for him for his birthday, just let me know and I can provide them. I can also figure out a way to show proof that the girl is in prison and that she went after all of this took place. Oh, one more thing... In the salon owners response shown above, he said that they now haw a specific way of handling such situations if they should ever arise in the future. Doesn't that, in some sense, tell u that he does in fact see some wrongdoing on his part as to how the situation was handled??? Just saying.
Thank you for taking the time to review my complaint and listen to my side of the story. It is much appreciated.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2015/09/11) */
There are too many inaccuracies in Ms. [redacted]'s claim. She has all ready changed her story from the first complaint to her follow up. Where her boyfriend had received a call from me to now he was out of minutes. Ms. [redacted] is not the owner of the watch since she gave it as a present. She has accused my employees as thieves and has expressed personal attacks towards me. She is a third party to all of this. Since, she is not the owner of the watch, I know she has nothing to claim.
