Ms. [redacted],  Thank you for allowing us to work with your family as long as we did. I am sorry that we could not come a resolution when we spoke on April 25, 2017.  At that meeting, you expressed your concerns with our program and that your wish was to withdraw your son from our school....

Additionally, you requested to have the early termination fee of $300 waived. It was explained that the termination fee was agreed upon within the 2016-2017 Financial Agreement which you signed on 11 March 2016. It was also mentioned when you asked about the process to withdraw. After listening to your concerns, I offered to reduce the early termination fee to $150 as an effort to compromise.  Additionally, you are requesting a refund of the re-enrollment fee for the 2017-2018 school year. During the pre-enrollment process, it was explained that the pre-enrollment (entrance fee) are also non-refundable.  Attached are the signed 2017-2018 Financial Agreement, signed Student Withdrawal Form (signed in protest), signed 2016-2017 Financial Agreement, and Financial Information sheet which show the fees you acknowledged and accepted.  Again, we are saddened by your decision to withdraw your son from our school. We wish and pray that you find a school that will meet his and your needs for his education.  [redacted]Principal Natomas Christian School

Mrs. [redacted],   Please allow me to begin with an apology for the delay in processing your withdrawal refund. Yes,your husband did sign a withdrawal form for your son on Monday, April 10 (effective date of April 7, 2017). After that, he was told that it would take several days to process the...

withdrawal and get the final numbers to you.   In the processing of the withdrawal, our Office Manager needed to confirm some information before finalizing the request to get your complete and accurate refund amount. Unfortunately, this did not happen before we finished for our Easter Break which began on Friday, April 14.   You did call our office on April 14, but since our school site was on break, no one was available to answer and/or return your call. On April 18, while still officially on break, our Office Manager did reach out to you via phone in an attempt to explain the delay, to which you were not willing to have a discussion with her. During this phone call, it was resolved that we would have your refund check available for pick up after 4:30PM on Wednesday, April 19.   Your complaint that we didn’t treat your situation fairly because your friend’s account was resolved is not accurate as each family’s situation is different. Our Financial Agreement, which you signed at the time of enrollment, states, “…any refunds will be calculated on a pro-rated basis, and issued within 30 days after the student’s withdrawal form is signed…”.   Again, our apologies for not having the refund check and completed information in the couple of days we originally said; however, we have met our 30 days to finalize the withdrawal. Once you pick up your check on April 19, we trust this matter will be considered resolved. While we are saddened that we will no longer work with your son, we trust that you find a site that meets his and your needs.

Review: I will begin with stating that our child was 6 years old in 2nd grade, which is young. He started a new school and we were getting a phone call every single day. EVERY SINGLE DAY. He is not that bad as he has had perfect days in his new school. We had already told them that he would need a transition time adjust to this new school and older schoolmates. The story begins.....The principal, [redacted], told our child to "Shut up and come with me." after a particularly tough day at school. He did sent us an apology letter. As his father, I could accept that, but we knew that this wasn't the school for him to grow in faith or academically. We did pay over $600+ for him to be in school for a whole 8 days. We spoke with the on-site superintendent, [redacted], (the only other review for the school, see below) after initially getting blown off by him the week before. He stated that we HAVE TO PAY $65 FOR AN EARLY TERMINATION FEE!!!We respectfully let him know that we had pulled him out from the principals actions, but that didn't matter as he continuously pointed out the behavior of our child and justify his principal. Of course we are going above and beyond to let parents know and are getting in contact with the school board.Desired Settlement: We're going to need $250 back

Attached is the document. Note the areas that appear blacked out are actually because of highlights before the parents signed to make VERY clear our financial policy. If you have any additional questions, please let us know.

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: of the reason that our child was taken out of the school was because of the action of the principal. The reason for us taking our child out of the school was because the principal told our child to "shut up". So while I understand what the contract says, I also feel that the school has to be held responsible for the actions taken. So, from the contract, no matter what the principal did, we don't have the right to take our student out without the early termination fee? We feel the school should do their best to make us whole and not charge us the termination fee for taking our son away from the principal that couldn't control his choice of words to a 6 year old.
