Review: We had a loss originally in January 2013 that was covered by insurance. Part of the claim was due to water damage on the ceilings on our second floor. [redacted] of [redacted] worked with [redacted] on the claim and then handled the repair work. Approximately 6 months later, we once again had water damage in the same area. We contacted [redacted] of [redacted] who sent a subcontractor out. The water was entering the house in the same place it had previously. [redacted] said we should contact [redacted], which we did. They sent a professional roofer out who said that the ridge vent was faulty and needed to be replaced. This was not something that would be covered under home owners insurance. We immediately had the ridge vent replaced. I contacted [redacted] asking why we had not been informed during the original loss that the ridge vent was faulty and that we would continue to have water damage until it was replaced. [redacted] claimed that he did tell us. However, the first we heard of this problem was after the second loss. Had we known about it originally, we would have had the ridge vent repaired prior to the water damage being repaired.Desired Settlement: We would like to have the drywall replaced, the attic insulation replaced and the ceiling repainted at [redacted] of [redacted]'s expense. We would not have this second round of damage had we been informed previously that the underlying problem was not being fixed.

Yes, we preformed repair work for [redacted]. [redacted] in January of 2013. Water damage affected her master bedroom and office area ceilings. Water entered her roof at her ridge vent (aluminum ridge vent). It occurred via wind driven rain, however no wind damage actually occurred to the ridge vent. An written estimate for repairs was submitted to her insurance carrier. [redacted]. [redacted] received a copy of the estimate from her carrier. No repairs were approved for the ridge vent as there was no actual wind damage to the ridge vent. [redacted]. [redacted] WAS advised that there was no actual damage to the ridge vent and the water entered from wind driven rain, however the existing ridge vent was an older style that is not actually installed anymore because it is prone to leaks from wind driven rain. [redacted]. [redacted] was advised that she should look to get it replaced with a [redacted] vent system. She was advised that there was no current leak, but she should look to get it completed at her earliest opportunity. For over 6 months, there was no problem, no leaking, until after a heavy storm with wind driven rain. At that time [redacted] called and reported a leak in 1 of the 2 areas it had previously leaked.

We initially told her we would be happy to do any repair work she needed, but this was another issue and she would have to file another insurance claim or pay for it directly. [redacted]. [redacted] said they did not want to file another claim as they had just switched insurance companies. She felt that it was all part of the original situation. We reviewed the information I stated above and told her that if she still felt that way she should go back to [redacted] and they would be able to evaluate her original claim. According to her statements it seems as she/they did and concluded as we did that it was her faulty ridge vent. Again, no work was ever preformed on her ridge vent by [redacted] of [redacted].
