Nautical Details Reviews (1)

The complainant, [redacted] (“ [redacted] ”) that filed complaint (Revdex.com#: [redacted] ) incorrectly stated facts and the actual contractual agreements.? In defense of Nautical Details, Inc(“Nautical”), below is a correct summation of the facts, agreements and dates between the partiesOn August 15, 2015, [redacted] advised me that she decided to give her boyfriend a surprise by detailing his boat.? We met on the boat to inspect the boat and Nautical gave her a detailed quote for the following items: -? ? ? ? ? ? Wash down to prepare the boat for compounding and waxing -? ? ? ? ? ? Compound and wax the gelcoat from the gunnel up -? ? ? ? ? ? Compound and wax the hull -? ? ? ? ? ? Clean and wax the cockpit -? ? ? ? ? ? Remove, clean and replace carefully the canvas -? ? ? ? ? ? Clean and protect the plastics and windows -? ? ? ? ? ? Wet sand, compound and wax the transom to erase the shadow of the port of call stickers.? -? ? ? ? ? ? Materials are additional and the price was to be determined, usually around 10% to 15% of the labor cost, and for end materials as used here is around the higher end of 15% [redacted] wanted the boat to look great so we recommended that we should use our premiere coating, which is more expensive than wax, but which is a new technology and would be the most durable long lasting shine that you could get? In order to get the best results, we also advised that you would need to remove all the oxidation? [redacted] agreed to all the foregoing and we undertook to do the work? We also told her that if we could do the compound and polish in steps she would get the rate of $per foot for the exterior top of the boat.? We weren’t sure we could do the compound and polish in steps because of the age of the boat (years) but we said we would do our bestAt the same time we also mentioned our concern of the location of the boat because it was under the highway, giving rise to greasy soot and ashes landing on the boat? This would interfere with the timing of the work and could create a bigger challenge than would otherwise be typical.? We advised [redacted] that if the conditions were dirty as thought to be, the work would take more time and therefore cost more money? [redacted] advised that they would move the boat but the boat was never moved even though we told [redacted] twice that it was never relocated? In fact, on September 3, 2015, [redacted] told us to do a follow up complete wash of the boat just before she was to arrive with her boyfriend all while she was still aware that the greasy soot was falling down from the highway? Even though [redacted] knew that September was a jam packed workday for us, in order to accommodate this impromptu request, Nautical went out of its way to make this a special moment for her [even though the conditions were practically the worst we have seen]? In connection with this impromptu boat wash, [redacted] failed to mention that a mechanic was going to be on the boat? When we arrived to give it the follow up wash, we found that the mechanic had left the front and back curtains off for days while the boat was parked under the highway.? This failure lead to the inside cockpit area of the boat to be trashed and the carpets and cushions getting black greasy soot everywhere as well as grease from the mechanics dirty hands? Nautical has documented all of this as well.? We notified her immediately and cleaned the boat as best as we could after the mechanic stepped off the boat.? ? This original estimate that [redacted] agreed to, had several variables that the client created, all of which she was well aware of and agreed and understood.? As a service company we bill the time of our employees on each job and when we give estimates we provide a range of time that will approximate the job solicitedIf we max out of these quoted ranges we provided our customer [and add the price for wet sanding, compounding and waxing the transom that was supposed to be determined as soon as we did a test spot and that came out to a reduced rate of $plus materials the total of said quote would be: $2184.85.] Nautical provided some of the work at a reduced rate because we [knew] her and we knew this was a gift for her boyfriend.? Nautical wanted to help in its own way to help her give him that “special gift”Our original estimate did not include the extra step of polish being applied to the whole boat, work that we did at a reduced rate of only $per foot? This was decided after we reviewed the boat together and saw that the oxidation was not coming off with just the compound and the extra step of polish was necessary to prep the boat for the polymer finish.? This third step was required to get the best results that the customer was expecting without wet sanding any other areas of the boat.? In summary, Nautical had to compound, polish and add a polymer sealant to the gelcoat from the gunnel up to obtain the best resultsThis work was solicited on August 25, 2015, with [redacted] stating that she was arriving from her trip on September 3, 2015.? With those dated, we advised her that for availability reasons, we could start on the boat right away and perform a follow up cleaning closer to the desired date.? [redacted] agreedOur assistant sent [redacted] an invoice in error on October 2, for $3,that consisted of all the hours spent detailing and restoring the boat due to the highway overpass pollution, cleaning up after the mechanic and the additional work of trying to remove the oxidation off with the compound as well as the polishing time.? This was sent in error in the sense that the assistant was supposed to send the draft invoice to Margarita X [redacted] for review so it could be adjusted for the fact that Nautical kindly agreed to help in some small way for [redacted] ’s gift to her boyfriend.? In the meantime the assistant called [redacted] to let her know that wasn’t the final price and that Margarita wanted to make an adjustment to the invoice and then resend it.? The assistant also advised [redacted] that it was important that we have a conversation due to all the variables that came up during the project.? For some reason at that point, [redacted] disappeared and was incommunicado as it took weeks of emails and texts to finally get her to respondNautical sent [redacted] an invoice of $2,on October 31, 2015, which was some $reduced for the true final accounting for the work.? Since then we have tried on numerous occasions to peacefully negotiate this amount, trying to find some middle ground as an act of good faith, and because we found out that [redacted] and her boyfriend had previous expenses with the boat yard for having to fix the engine for the 3rd time as well.? Nautical made these adjustments out of its own good will [redacted] first sent us a check for $1,saying that was the quoted amount (which is untrue), and later on she sent a check for $361.50, for a total of $1,? Nautical has made every effort to negotiate with her with kind and thoughtful emails and [redacted] has seen fit to send disrespectful emails to us.? The current balance is $1,281.50, and while we have a corporate policy of working with our customers, of being on good terms with our customers, [redacted] has failed to pay us the balance.? In our years in the business, we have never received any Revdex.com complaints.? We rarely if ever have to hire attorney’s to seek payment of the balance but unfortunately we have had to do so here not only because of the unpaid amount but also to request [redacted] to cease and desist from making false, erroneous and defamatory statements about NauticalAs you know, Nautical has been in business for more than years and this is the first customer complaint we have ever received.? And as you can see from the foregoing, we will vigorously defend our company, our integrity and our work.? We are more than happy to provide all correspondence and documents that support the above
