I just received a letter of complaint today regarding a customer purchase. Our business hours are posted on the door as they are different in the summer than the normal hours that are posted on the website. We are a walk-in service business and do not take appointments for tanning beds, as there is...

too high volume of no show/no calls with appointments. The customer knew the hours prior to purchasing the package, and also knew that with the 4th of July holiday that the salon would be closed for 4 days. The customer was welcome to purchase single sessions instead of 1 month, and was also informed that since we would be closed, the month would be extended to make up for the days closed. The 3rd day the customer came in to tan did happen to be an off day as the owner working was stuck at the bank dealing with a stolen check book. The customer called in to complain and ask for a refund. As posted on our board, all sales are final. Her excuse for the refund was due to the operating hours, which she would have known prior to purchasing the package as they are posted on the front door, in the restroom, and on the price menu. She was informed on the phone that all sales were final however we would refund the amount minus the 2 single sessions she did tan, so she could get a refund of $38 if she stopped in. Instead, she mentioned making an appointment, where she was welcomed to call in if she wished. She never called. The second day the customer claims we were not open is a false statement, we were actually open 5 minutes early that day and the other owner even stayed an hour later than posted times with the thought the customer was going to call in for an appointment (which we were going to accommodate even though we do not take appointments). Customer has never called or stopped in since the first initial phone call on the 26th. As far as the customers comments of having another employee work, we are a small business with 2 owners and have to be certified to work, 1 of the owners happened to be out of state, and the other owner that was working that day had to take care of financials at the bank which unfortunately took longer than expected. We apologized for any inconvenience it caused and are willing to work with customers who may have missed out on services that morning, as long as they call or stop in to take care of it. We absolutely will not give a full refund or cover gas, she was informed that she could have a refund minus the 2 single sessions, and she never came in to sign off on it.[redacted], Owner
