I apologize for the lateness of this response. I had just returned from vacation when I received your first communication by the President of our organization, and in the midst...

of catching up, this slipped my mind.
First, a little background into who we are and what we do: NNDC is a non-profit community development corporation involved in affordable housing development and housing revitalization in distressed urban neighborhoods in Indianapolis.
One of the services we provide is a Home Repair program which funds and carries out health & safety, mechanical, and structural repairs and improvements to the homes of low-income home owners. Mr. [redacted] is a client in that program and, to date, our organization and our partner organizations in the program have carried out a combined total of approximately $16,925 in repairs and improvements to Mr. [redacted]' home. The full scope of work originally agreed to by Mr. [redacted] has been completed.
After completion of Mr. [redacted]' project, we did have conversations with him regarding additional work he wanted done to his home. We indicated a willingness to consider doing that additional work IF our organization had funds available after completing our other project for other clients in the program in 2014. No commitment was made, verbally or in writing, by NNDC regarding this additional work however. This seems to be the scope of work Mr. [redacted] is unhappy about; work that was not done, because it was never promised.
As a matter of fact, NNDC notified Mr. [redacted] by telephone the week of January 12th that we did have leftover funds from 2014 and that we we're going to move ahead with those additional requested repairs. Bids from contractors are actually due in today, January 30th, and after review by NNDC staff and approval by Mr. [redacted], we will be doing the additional work he requested.
Attached to this email are copies of the following documents:
- Original contract with the contractor for the main job, specifications included in contract.
- Invoice for the emergency repair work completed
- Certificate of Completions signed by Mr. [redacted], stating that he accepts the work was completed and
authorizes NNDC to pay the contractor.
I believe that the information provided above and attached herewith speak directly to Mr. [redacted]' complaint that NNDC "...did not complete the project that the (sic) were supposed to... they did not complete or forfield (sic) there (sic) contract or obligation."
We did not technically have a contract with Mr. [redacted], but instead did present him with a scope of work to be completed through our program. Mr. [redacted] signed off on that original scope of work, which was indeed completed, and the completion of which was also acknowledged by Mr. [redacted]. Mr. [redacted]' complaint seems to stem from his dissatisfaction that ALL the work he would have liked to have done — including things he requested after the fact — wasn't all done as part of the initial project.
Please let me know if you require additional information and/or documentation.
