Negril Village Reviews (3)

Review: I visited Negril restaurant on November [redacted] and arrived around 6 pm. I enjoyed a meal. Before ordering, I tried to submit a gift card (which I purchased from Negril's website) to the waiter as I was advised to do such on my last visit. The waiter declined to take the gift card and told me that he will take it when my guest and I are done eating. After eating, I presented the gift certificate to the waiter. The waiter returned and told me there was a hold up because the gift certificate appeared to have expired two weeks ago. However, the gift certificate clearly notes that there is no expiration date. I informed the waiter of this and was quite surprised that he did not know since the certificate was purchased form Negril and the non-expiration date is clearly noted on the certificate. He left again. He later returned and said there would be additional delay because they had to validate the certificate. The certificate has a certificate number on it - and it also has a QR code. The process of validation should take one minute, at most - scanning the QR code. My guest and I questioned why the waiter said there was an expiration date issue and he denied saying it. It took 20 minutes to complete the processing of my transaction. My guest and I were very offended. We intended to catch an express bus home (after dinner) and timed our meal accordingly. As a result of this insulting delay, we missed the bus (which only runs every hour) and took a $50 cab ride home to avoid an hour waiting for the next bus. The meal cost $90 and the waiter did not even give us a receipt.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of my money or a complimentary meal. Management offered complimentary drinks which do not cover the time spent and money wasted getting home after such an ordeal.

Response:

At this time, I have not been contacted by Negril Village regarding complaint ID [redacted]. I did, however, go there for dinner last night because a friend surprised me with a trip there. The manager gave my friends and I a round of drinks. My friend asked if they take credit cards. The manager said they take cash and credit cards, but not gift cards. I still have $50 on my gift card from my last visit so I imagine they will have to honor it since it has no expiration date or give me $50. To be continued.

Sincerely,

Review: My sister decided to celebrate her [redacted] birthday at the restaurant called Negril village. Reservations was for 20 people at 2000hrs, however my sister was running a little late; most of her guests had arrived before she did. Due to missing the schedule time. We had to wait until 2100hrs. So everyone contine to be social at the bar upstairs or in the lounge until it was time to be seated. Once we were seated and looking over the menu. Everyone notice the pre fix menu stated $45 per person instead of $38 dollars like advertise on the website. So my sister spoke to the manager who was also the host in reference to the price. When she arrived back to the table I saw her face in distress. She could not even look up to talk to anyone. She cried so much that every one turned around in shock. The manager said he could adjust the price and she was upset that she informed us $38 for dinner. So our other friends decided to negotiation the menu price. Out of that little meeting. We were given a smaller menu with less food choices. So since we were limited on food from the caribbean week menu. It was a very very large order of oxtails. Somehow the chef couldn't handle the large order oxtails and out of coincidence they were burnt. So now the manager informs our service Aldan that we can order from the 45 pre fix menu but pay 35. So all the oxtails order change to jerk chicken, shrimp or salmon. So we continue to sit around and try to be somewhat patient on our food and drink our glass of water. My poor son, who just turn *year's old last month. Was getting so tired and cranky waiting. I order him some french fries which took some time as well. Funny how the guest were like savages wanted some of my son fries. I also order a juice for him since the drink that was included never was served when I was there. My aunt who works the grave yard shift for [redacted] had to leave and was not able to eat. It would have been nice in the time of waiting and looking at other guest arrive after and eat, to at least have breadDesired Settlement: My sister should not have to be so frustrated, upset and crying on and off at her [redacted] birthday dinner party.I can not tell this business how to treat ppl but it would be nice to go back and eat and not have to worry about ppl sugar level getting low or having headaches due to hunger plainsThe guest are the people who make the business run and should be treated with respect and the best quality

Review: This company charged my credit card additional fees and add on their tips (gratuity) without first telling me. once I noticed the problem, I contacted them and supposedly only one person ([redacted]) can handle this situation of correcting the amount billed. I spent a week calling and spoke to several more managers who couldn't do anything. finally. I get [redacted] ([redacted]) who says the bank doesn't allow them to return credit and that she sorry but the waiters don't know how to properly ring up the bill. with this said, I still had to dispute the charge with my card company. They do this for the double tips . I thought automatic gratuity on parties less than 5 is not allowed.
