I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.

I still feel that they lied, they told me and this subject was ignored that I was turned down the day after my husband died. That wasn't true and I may have made other decisions in regards to how *** was taken care ofI feel they knew it would be a hardship to pay for a full funeral expense, and that is why I was told this, as they knew it would take a long time to payThat is the bottom line, it wasn't the truth. It is true that I did agree to pay $a month and I did call and ask if could wait a while longer to see what the insurance would say and I was told ok on that. Even then it didn't dawn on them that I knew the insurance company could not have told them the day after his death that they denied the policy once I had talked to the insurance companyWhy tell me that!! And how many poor grieving widows were in this position. I received word that I was turned down and when things are resolved one way or another if I have to I will pay, but there are some serious issues here and for the heartache and emotional upset, I really feel they should be happy with what they received so farThank you

Mrs*** *** is correct about her husband dying on July
12, 2015, Sunday at 5:AM. With that
in mind, we met with the family at 2Pm
Sunday and Mrs*** expressed her wishes as she described. We embalmed and got Mr***’s remains
ready
for viewing as requested earlier that morning. At the
arrangement conference Mrs*** expressed that the only funds she had was
the Insurance policy that was issued Jan 2014, which would be within the year
contestable period. Contestable means
that the Insurance Company has to review the claim and no face amount is
guarantee. Our policy as discussed with
Mrs*** is funds have to be secure Also as discussed in the past dealing with
*** policy, generally they only return premiums after a long review and there
are no guarantees.
Mrs***’s sister, a funeral director in NC, and our
director encourage that she go with cremation and carry the remains to the
final resting place herself to lessen the financial burden. We provided our services and facility to Mrs
*** at NO CHARGE for a one day family viewingI’m sorry she fills the way she does with the
decisions she had to make because of her financial situation, we did this to
help her, because we understand the need for comfort and how the viewing assist
in the grieving process. I understand
Mrs***’s frustrations but we do not have any control over the Insurance
Company’s decision or her finances
We did proceed with the cremation services as authorized by
Mrs*** with only a third of the cost down and payments of $a monthThe down payment was secured by
her son and sister on July 13, the day after the conference with Mrs***
and the day after she completed the Insurance Claim/Assignment. There was no intent to keep any overage of
Insurance proceeds, that is illegal! Assignments are always adjusted as the
Insurance claims are processed due to many reasons; donations made by others,
family payments, services changes, and/or other Insurance assignmentsGenerally, once the claim
adjuster reviews we or the beneficiary is contacted to verify amount of
assignment
To this day Mrs*** has not fulfilled her Promissory
Note agreement, of monthly payments of $for services that where agreed
and authorized by her on a Sandifer Funeral Home contract, Promissory Note, and
Cremation Authorization. We have fulfilled
all duties and services as agreed upon
As a member of the Selected Independent Funeral Directors,
we make an oath to serve all families no matter their finances. I feel we gave her all her options and even
worked with her by extending credit with no interest and allowing her a family
viewing at no charge. If she is still having financial issues I would encourage her to call me and I will make it work for her and her family

As stated in prior response: “ As a member of the Selected
Independent Funeral Directors, we make an oath to serve all families no matter their
finances.” I feel we gave her all her options and even worked with
her by extending credit with no interest and allowing her a family viewing at
no charge which is not the company policy, unless approved by the
officers of the companyOur payment
policy is payment in full by cash, credit card, and or guaranteed and approved
Insurance, again the only exceptions must be company approved
The fact is the Insurance policy that was provided is a
Contestable Policy, which is not guaranteed paymentService
options where given by the director and Mrs*** agreed on Cremation Services. If the wording, “denied life Insurance”, was
used by the director he was wrong. I
have addressed that with the all directors.
The other fact is on September 25, on the policy that was provided
was reviewed by the Insurance Company and was revealed:
“Review of records revealed that Mr*** failed to
disclose material information concerning his medical history on the request for
insurance*** *** *** Insurance Company has rescinded the insurance coverage
provided under contract “ (XXXXXXX) “, which renders the Contract null and
void. As the Contract has been canceled
on the Company records, there are no proceeds available.” , stated on letter
from *** September 25, to Sandifer Funeral Home
This is why Sandifer Funeral Home, INC doesn’t accept
contestable life insuranceI hope you
can understand why we have this policy.
I will be honored to work something out with Mrs*** if she has difficulty
paying for services selected and share all facts and disclosures from the
Insurance Company. Sandifer Funeral Home
(an family owned funeral home), has been serving families and friends in this community
for over 60years and rest assure they are still here to help Mrs***. I invite Mrs*** to the funeral home to
further assist her
