Nellie Fox Bowl Reviews (1)

Review: On Monday February 10th, 2014 we held a birthday party for my son who turned 10. My wife had called and made the reservation a few days prior to the party. When we arrived we immediately got the feeling as if we were not wanted there. As the party began the female owner who was supposed to be handling the party was also bowling on a league so when it came to tending to our party she was short and very rude. She came over twice and yelled at kids to the point people 6 lanes over looked. As we proceeded to leave after the party was over she jumps in front of me and asked if we paid for our party, I told her yes and the employee who was at the register also verified that we had paid. Then, she demands to see my receipt and luckily I kept it and didn't toss it and then looks at it for 10 minutes to make sure the girl rang me up for everything! When I called this morning and spoke to the male owner (that's when I found out that she was his wife) he proceeds to act as if she did nothing wrong so I asked him if it is the policy to stop everyone before they leave and inspecting their receipt and his reply was no we don't do that, so then why did she do it to me? I couldn't get so much as an apology. I am very disgusted as to how my sons special day went! I felt extremely humiliated as she stopped me like a criminal and I stole something! It was ridiculous!Desired Settlement: As the party began the female owner who was supposed to be handling the party was also bowling on a league so when it came to tending to our party she was short and very rude. The amount we paid for a ruined party plus humiliation by an owner of the establishment.

Dear **. [redacted]:

Nellie Fox Bowl would like to respond to the complaint submitted to your office of the Revdex.com (Revdex.com) on 2/11/2014 with the assigned ID of [redacted].

When **. [redacted]’s (the complainant) wife phoned to reserve a birthday party for their child, I Informed them that we don’t usually have parties in the evening due to league bowling going on which causes the bowling center to be short staffed. I told her that we would schedule the party, but it may be quite hectic for the staff.

My wife who usually helps in attending to the parties was busy with the leagues bowling, snack bar business and overseeing the party. During this time of bowling, a child who was bowling with the party rang the alarm bells numerous times and pushing other buttons causing the sweep to come down to sweep off the pins while other children were bowling on those lanes. Now whether this child done this on purpose I do not know, but this causes problems for the employee (which was myself) working behind the pin area and also causes league bowlers to stop bowling and to look and see what the bellringing was alt about. My wife was bowling on her lanes with the league several lanes over from the party and when this occurred she did yell, from her lanes and started walking over to the child to have him stop ringing the alarm.

As to the payment of the party, my wife takes care of cashing out the party. The employee working at the register was not familiar with this procedure of parties (she works a few evenings only and we don’t have evening parties) and rang the party plus other bowling which was not part of the party package on different cost keys. This was done without the knowledge of my wife. When my wife saw that the complainant was ready to leave (he was still at the register), she asked if he paid for the party and explained that parties are rang in differently. He said he paid for everything, therefore, my wife ask to see the receipt to see how payment was rung on the register. Also, since we require a $30.00 deposit for parties, she had to adjust his payment if a deposit was paid. She asked if a deposit was paid, he said he did not know, so he asked his wife if one was made and she said no. My wife then proceeded to look at his receipt and saw the party was not rung in correctly. They need to be rung in on a separate cost key, due to the cost being split between snack bar and bowling costs, therefore, she felt she had the legitimate right to look at the receipt. When she saw that the party wasn’t rung at the correct costs, she explained it to the man by showing him on the receipt how the costs were wrong and figured the costs for the party the correct way. She also wrote on the back of his receipt the correct amount at the correct costs. He paid her without protest and she then ask him if everything was good and he said yes.

My wife did not interfere with the party, only when talking to [redacted]. [redacted] about the number of children in the party and the drinks they would want with their food and the time the food would be ready, she helped take it to the children and left [redacted]. [redacted] know it was there. The only other interaction was in the above grievances. As far as she could see, the party ran smoothly. So therefore, we are sorry that **. [redacted] felt he was humiliated and the party ruined.

Again, we apologize for any misunderstanding this has created. We are refunding his payment of $94.00 in good faith so as not to create any animosity with **. [redacted].

Sincerely,
