Nelson Hoke Mechanical Reviews (%countItem)

After calling out this company for a clogged drain, they managed to put a large hole in our piping, flood our crawl space, and never fixed the clog.
On Sunday, NH Mechanical sent out a plumber to snake our drains. The same plumber had to come to our house twice because neither time was the toilet draining correctly. Our sinks and bathtub were draining correctly though, but we found out later that was because they had punched a massive hole in one of the weaker PVC pipes connecting the bath tub to the main bathroom drain, so all of the grey water, and waste was being pushed back from the main and our through the hole in the piping and thus, was flooding the crawl space under our home. Upon calling for a third time, we were told that they would not be coming out again unless we paid them again, and that they could not "guarantee their work nor honor their same-day warranty" because they claimed we used "wet wipes". Firstly, we told the plumber that we have used flush-able wipes, which are significantly different from baby wipes because they are literally made to be flushed and break up easily. Secondly, they never had fixed the original clog in the main,so regardless of what is/was causing it, we paid for a service and they never completed said service. Finally, on a slightly unrelated note, the plumber left what can only be assumed to be human waste all over the bathroom flood/walls/toilet/and sink. Now it is Tuesday, and we still do not have a working toilet in our home, and the company refuses to return any phone calls or fix their mistake. We have had to trudge through human waste under our home to replace the busted piping ourselves, but there is still a main drain clog, so the bathroom is entirely inoperable. All this company has done is take our money and damage our property and they absolutely refuse to honor their warranty. Attached is a photo of the recovered pipe.

Desired Outcome

After this absolute disaster, we would like a refund. Seeing as the plumber did not fix the issue, made a giant mess in our bathroom, and literally damaged our property (scratched the toilet severely, busted the piping under our house, etc.), we would like a full refund.

We are deeply sorry to hear that you are unhappy with our services. I would like to address the points you made one by one.

#1. Our plumber used a hand auger for your toilet and that could not have possibly broken a pipe and flooded your crawlspace.
#2. There is not much difference between "wet wipes" and "flushable wipes". Even "flushable" wipes are damaging to sewer systems and can cause major issues.
#3 The services we provided were to the best of our abilities considering our recommendation to discontinue the use of wipes was not heeded.
#4. Whatever "waste" is regurgitated after the drain is clear is not our responsibility. That would be a job for a restoration company.
#5. We spoke with you multiple times on the phone and once we found that wipes were being used, once again, we reminded you that we do not guarantee drains.
#6. We do not offer a guarantee on any drain calls for several reasons, therefor, there is no warranty for us to honor.

We hope we were able to successfully explain everything for you.

This is unacceptable. The auger was put through the bath tub drain originally and THAT is the pipe that was damaged. Furthermore, we did not continue to use flushable wipes after the fact, because the toilet wouldn't flush. The issue was never fixed. There was clearly a blockage further down the main bathroom pipe, and the only reason the toilet was flushing was due to the waste water coming back up through the bathtub & sink drain. The company that came out to the final time took up the toilet and had the drain fixed in less than an hour, the service we received from NH was atrocious. The plumber that was sent out by NH did not take up our toilet and tried to go through it instead & ended up severely damaging the toilet (scratches/chips in porcelain). He ran the large snake through the toilet and it was not hand powered. It was electronic. The one in the bathtub may have been a hand auger, but he used a lot of force and eventually broke through the pipe! Rather than simply taking up the toilet and going through the main drain pipe, the plumber chose the easier route of trying to go through the actual toilet itself which resulted in damage & not even fixing the clog, then he went through the bathtub and cracked the PVC piping. NH is entirely liable for the disaster in the crawl space & should issue a refund for 1) Not fixing the clog and 2) damaging our property.

We are sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with our first response.
As stated, a hand auger cannot damage a pipe, wether it be a toilet pipe or a bathtub pipe. We are sorry that your crawlspace flooded however that was at no fault of Nelson Hoke Mechanical. As previously stated, we have no warranty for drain cleaning services and will not be issuing a refund or paying for damages that were not caused by our company. Thank you for your understanding. Nelson Hoke Mechanical.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
NH continues to stipulate a hand auger was used despite a mechanical one being used & refutes the fact that their plumber used said auger down the bath tub drain, causing severe damage to the plastic PVC piping that linked the bath tub & sink to the main drain, that resulted in minor flooding of the crawl space under the home of human waste/grey water. Remediation of this issue is sought in the form of a partial or full refund to help recover costs associated with hiring another plumbing agency/to cover the cost of clean up. No further messages will be sent from the consumers end, all future communications will be via the consumers attorney.

Great work!
