Mr. [redacted] did indeed purchase this item from us in September of 2012. The item was sold at live auction and the final bid price was $1,600. Mr. [redacted] did not register a complaint with us until months after the auction. We run an ethical and upstanding business and we pride ourselves on our commitment to our clients. If we willingly make a mistake (and we are notified immediately) will take every step to correct it. In this case, we do not feel that any mistake was made. The terms and conditions of the auction were stated as follows: "All items sold as-is, where is, with no warranty. All condition statements given as a courtesy only and returns are not accepted on basis of condition, originality, or authenticity. If you are unsure about any lots offered in this sale please call for a condition report: XXX-XXX-XXXX". This is a direct quote from our auction catalog and it was posted along with each item listed in the above mentioned auction. Mr. [redacted] agreed to these terms and conditions in order to bid in our auction. Mr. [redacted] purchased the items and paid for it without calling first and without asking us any questions. The authenticity of any work of art is almost always a matter of personal opinion. The art world is a very difficult and complex place. We cannot possibly guarantee the authenticity of any given work due to a large variety of factors. It is regretful that Mr. [redacted] received an opinion about this work that differs from ours. We disagree with this opinion and we do not offer an compensation in this matter.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT ACCEPT the response from the business.)

Nest Egg Auction sold me a fake medallion this was confirmed be [redacted] gallery in puerto rico by the son of [redacted]. (letter to follow) a upstanding auction house should stand by its reputation and not its small print. it was sold to me as a medallion by [redacted] and in fact it was not. I bid 1,600 dollars and 200 dollars fee. a auction house that sells fakes is worthless and I want my money back

In order for an auction to function properly and ethically, all parties must all adhere to a certain set of rules. If we did not have these rules, buyers could decide at any time that they no longer wanted an item that they won. A winning bidder could then purchase items at auction, and then attempt to sell the item at a higher price. If that attempt failed, they could just "return" the item to the auctioneer. Buyers could also purchase a piece of art, keep it, and then return a fake piece to the auctioneer! In order to protect our business and our clients, we hold steadfast to the terms and conditions of our auction. Nest Egg Auctions is always happy to address concerns of authenticity and originality before an immediately after a sale. If a buyer were to contact us within ten to fifteen days with a concern, it would be addressed immediately. We cannot consider any issues after this period of time. The items we sell on behalf of our clients (sellers) are settled and paid for within 30 days of a completed auction. Once the client has been paid for this item, Nest Egg Auctions has no recourse. This situation is unfortunate. A personal and subjective difference of opinion is essentially the heart of the matter. We suggest that Mr. [redacted] abides by the terms and conditions of our auction, and we request that the Revdex.com closes this complaint amicably. Thank you, Auctioneer [redacted]

This review is in regard to our recent experience with Nest Egg Auctions in Meriden,Ct. I would advise future customers not to take too much stock in the free verbal appraisals given by the owner. I was told my collectables would sell between $40.00 to $100.00 each, but most sold for $10.00 to $20.00. Our two new [redacted] crystal pieces, (vase and bowl in their boxes) sold for $10.00. Nest Egg Auctions is not a place to get a good price for your collectables. In hindsight, we now wish we had given them away as gifts to friends and family.
