When a dog leaves our facility returning home, it is out of our control how the owner uses the training and how they use the equipment- in this case, an electronic collarAt the Academy, we follow a set schedule/routine of play groups, training, and exercises; all the while every dog’s collar
goes on for play groups, comes off after play groups, gets adjusted during training or nature hikes, and is never on for a prolonged periodThis was the protocol for Bailey during her weeks of training as well as for boarding; as you have seen this resulted in no marks on her neckWe exercise due diligence in this regimented schedule because the health and well-being of all dogs in our care is of paramount importanceThere are a variety of things that contribute to sores developing, sometimes within a matter of a few hoursIf/when a dog’s fur or skin gets wet, which happens this time of the year (playing in snow, melted snow, etc.), or if a dog is scratching at the collar, rubbing on it in the snow, these things can cause irritation or sores from the contact pointsBailey left our facility after weeks of training in perfect health, and then she returned for boardingAs per the timeline of when your dog left our facility and when we heard of this issue, it very much is a possibility this irritation or sore could have occurredWe were notified of this almost two days after your dog left our careWe thank you for bringing this to light and have incorporated a health/wellness exam at the time of check-out to further demonstrate each dog’s well-being at the time they leave our facility.A client is responsible for the any/all of vet fees that may occur while at our facility or returning homeRegardless, as a way of showing compassion and good faith to resolve this matter, we are willing to meet you half way and refund 50% of the boarding services we provided to your dogWe respectfully ask that you remove the accusations made about our company
