regarding the complaint and or medical care of Mr***’s significant other for reasons of medical confidentiality pertinent to theHealth Insurance Portability and Accountability Actof (HIPAA), Public Law 104-19, enacted on August 21, 1996. We respect the privacy of all of our patients We do want you to know that all patients, upon establishing care in our practice, are informed of their responsibilities regarding insurance coverage, testing coverage, and financial obligations. Furthermore, only testing that is felt to be medically necessary is ordered. We do empathize with Mrand Mrs***’s financial obligations and situation, however we cannot pay for every test that is not covered by an individual’s insurance company or we would not be able to continue to remain open and or serve our community. We did not profit in any way from the testing that is in disputeThis situation is certainly in no way a bait and switch as Mr*** alludes too. The testing was ordered in an attempt to diagnose Mr***’s wife We did reach out to Mr*** to discuss his concern after he alerted us to his dissatisfaction, but he would not accept any answer that did not ultimately result in our office paying for his *** Clinic Laboratory bill, a bill that we are not responsible for. We did feel that our laboratory testing policies were clear prior to this event, but subsequent to this event, we have reformatted our laboratory order sheet in an attempt to make it even more explicit Because Mr*** was dissatisfied with our response he then proceeded to send multiple letters to multiple individuals, professional societies, and online social media sites in an attempt to tarnish our provider’s and our office’s reputations (enclosure), as well as he sent daily e-mails to our office for nearly two weeks. Mr***’s behavior is harassing and libelous in our opinion.
