Beware of this company!!!
BEWARE! This company doesn't only do really shoddy work, but they also don't pay their contractors. We hired them to do the exterior work on our home. It was the shoddiest workmanship. The siding is all wavy. The new porch was installed off centered. The porch was to have a gable but before they had the shingles, they cut the roofline back. It poured rain into the house and attic until the water was running out of our light fixtures. They double charged for items and charged for things they never provided. If we hadn't gone through each invoice and questioned each charge, we would have paid way more than was necessary. They told us that portable toilet was required. They brought it in a month before they started work and left it for almost 2 months after they were done. All on our expense. After the work was supposedly completed, no final walk around was done. The siding is still wavy, the porch is crooked, the front door doesn't close properly. To go from bad to worse, they don't pay the people who do work for them. I wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy.

I've since spoken to many others who have experienced very similar things! This company is a total sham!

I hired this contractor to complete a renovation and am now having to have a different contractor come in and fix the work. I have a large scratch on my floor from my couch chaise being dragged, live electrical wire was left hanging, live electrical wire was touching metal, amongst many other things that our new contractor has pointed out.

Three months after signing our contract, our job still was not started nor building permit and site plan submitted to the township on our behalf.
May 6/19: Emailed New Beginnings Contracting Services for a quote on raising our cottage at ***

May 11/19: Met *** and her boyfriend/husband *** at our cottage in *** so that they could see the scope of work to be done. *** said that they were quoting other cottages to be raised in our subdivision as well and that once started, each cottage lift should take approximately 2 weeks.

May 23/19: Received quote with anticipated start date of 4-6 weeks from contract acceptance and deposit received. Emailed *** to set up a date to meet Saturday, May 25 to sign final contract.

May 25/19: Signed contract and gave *** and *** the keys to our cottage. We were given a start date of June 24, 2019, as they were scheduled to start ***'s cottage first on June 10/19 and told us each job would take 2 weeks to complete. We were told New Beginnings would provide the permit documentation and act on our behalf and submit the paperwork to ***.

June 1/19: *** and *** picked up the deposit cheque at our cottage ($13,736.91). Text received from *** stating that she received it.

June 21/19: Received an email from *** stating that they would like to meet with us on June 22 at our cottage to discuss a change in the schedule, as they were running behind on ***'s cottage lift.

June 22/19: Met with *** and *** at our cottage and we were told that ***'s cottage was taking longer than anticipated and that they wanted to change our start date to July 22/19, as they were going to finish ***'s cottage raise and then go on to the next neighbour's job (***) so that they would not interfere with our holidays that we had booked for the week of July 15/19. We agreed to a new start date of July 22/19.

July 7/19: Found that ***'s cottage was still up on the support beams, not down on its piers. It had been up in the air since the middle of June. Emailed *** to ask if there was a problem at ***'s cottage. She replied that there were some water issues and that they had to get an engineer in and that there was further delay. Did not hear anything further from *** other than seeing her briefly at ***'s near the end of July where she said they were still doing ***'s cottage before ours and gave us no indication of when.

August 3/19: *** spoke with *** at ***'s cottage, which was now excavated underneath and raised in the air, on Saturday, August 3, to discuss a time line, as we had another week of holidays booked for August 19, 2019, and we indicated we were willing to cancel them if they were ready to do our cottage. *** indicated that it was fine to still continue with our holidays, as they would not be done with ***'s cottage and that our new start date was now August 26, 2019. I texted *** to reiterate that we were willing to cancel our holidays if they were ready to lift our cottage and received no reply.

August 17/19: On arriving at our cottage for our week of holidays, we discovered that ***'s cottage was still up in the air, exactly the same as it had been 2 weeks before with no progress at all. Texted *** to find out what was going on with ***'s as clearly they would not be ready to start our cottage on August 26/19. She indicated that they were waiting for the building inspector to come back from holidays. She indicated that *** no longer worked for New Beginnings Contracting Services and would not be working on our project. We phoned her and left a message as we wanted to discuss. She phoned back and indicated that she had other people to do the work and that she would be starting it on August 26/19 as promised.

August 19/19: We visited the *** Planning Department. Discovered no site plan or building permit had been submitted for our project, nor was there an inspector on holidays.

New Beginnings Contracting Services Response • Nov 27, 2019

Be advised that it is the position of NBCS that (1) it had a valid and enforceable contract with Mr. and Mrs.; (2) NBCS was not in breach of the contract and (3) the ***s forfeited their deposit by repudiating the contract days before construction was set to begin.
The deposit represents the cost of the materials required for the job. An itemized list of material is enclosed. NBCS purchased the materials in bulk along with material for 2 other similar jobs and had everything delivered to a nearby job site in ***. When the ***s stated that they wished to cancel the job, Ms. explained that the materials could not be returned to the supplier and she offered to transfer the materials to their new contractor or to deliver them to their property. The ***s instructed her not to deliver the materials to their property. Consequently, Ms. arranged to have all the ***s’material removed from *** and transported to ***. The concrete purchased for the job has sinceexpired and it has been disposed of.
Be advised that if your clients sue for the return of their deposit, NBCS will counterclaim for the cost of moving and storing the materials ordered for their job. At present, we estimate that cost to be approximately $5,000.
NBCS will agree to release the material currently in storage at *** to the ***s, or their designate, provided that the ***s execute a release in favour of NBCS and arrange to pick up the material up from *** at their own expense.
Govern yourself accordingly.

Thanks for sharing your experience. It seems this company likes to rip many people off for deposits and their work is sub par at best.
