for Mr [redacted]. I think you can tell that by them both of these decks look amazing. We had no problems and or concerns when we left. Mr [redacted] was very hard to work for, he was constantly questioning our work and leaving discouraging notes on them.
Half way through the build mr [redacted] said he didn't like how the joists showed through the decking, I advised him that that was how all decks are built, he continued to throw a fit so we spray painted all of the joists black to please him. He sent me threatening text messages which meant working for him in the future very awkward and hard to do. He called me saying his plow driver hit the front deck we built so I told him that I would go to the store and buy what he needed and replace the damaged board myself at no charge to him but that it would be a few days until I could get up there to do the work. 6 days past and he sent me more texts.
We we torn down the original moulding he had on his deck he explained to me he wanted us to replace the moulding that went across the top of it. I advised him that do to the age of the home it was hard for me to get exactly what he had up there but that we could come close. Well, we found the exact piece we tore off but when we went to install it mr [redacted] wife came out and told us that it was acceptable because it was not made out of vinyl. I told her I could not find a vinyl moulding that came close but she continued to express her disgust and wanted me to take $300 off of the contract price. The moulding cost $25 but still $300 off? I obliged anyways and lost that $$.
He also called me after and wanted me to pitch the decking on the front deck because he said that it was holding water. He said it was a trip hazard then I explained to him that that part of the deck was not covered and will be exposed to the elements and I wouldn't be able to control of water hit the decking.
I hope you can see that this man was hard to please from the beginning. Let me know if you have any questions.
