New Canaan Alarm

Review: The previous owner of the house paid the full price for the alarm system, which was installed by the company in question. We purchased the house last August. The company put in a datalock in the system to prevent us from swithing to another monitoring company. I emphasize that we own the equipment outright, and has no binding contract with them. They want to charge $125 to come out to remove the datalock so that we can use the equipment freely. They shouldn't have put in the datalock in the first place given that the system was purchased with full price, much like an unlocked smartphone. Now they claim that we are liable for correcting their deficiency and submit to their extortion.Desired Settlement: Remove the datalock and any other holdup on the system for us to use the equipment freely without any extra charge. This was what they should have done and the remedy should not cost us money.
