I am writing in response to the complainants additional concerns regarding this matter. My statement is as follows:
The complainant at no time told me that he wanted an estimate for repairs. His statement that he asked me if I wanted a $deposit for an estimate is patently untrue. He brought the snow blower in and asked me to repair asap and even called me the next day to see if I would have it readyThe fact that he paid $almost years ago has nothing to do with the value of the machine. It is an excellent machine and I would not have proceeded with the repair if I did not think it was worth it. I have been in business since and have never had a complaint. As far as his statement that his “radar is up” and that he believes that I want the snow blower for my own personal use or to resell, I find this incredulous. I have * of my own personal snow blowers and I do not need to make a few bucks on reselling his. The fact that he has attacked me personally is very upsetting. As far as I am concerned, he owes me $and in addition as per the posted sign in my establishment and also as stated on the invoice that he filled out, there is a $per day storage fee due as of 12/*/14. I am willing to waive the storage fee if he picks up his snow blower by the first week in January and pays the full amount due in cash

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:Bottom line, there is obviously some confusion as to the understanding and way that this was repair was initially gonna be handled. A lack of communication is obvious. I'm sure he has all the proper postings of rates. I think that's pretty funny he is willing to waive storage rates on a snow blower. What a guy!!! I just want to let him know that it's almost comical that he is demanding a $100 rate to work on a $450 snow blower. Dealer technicians working on $50,000 automobiles don't get that. I'm not paying it, especially when he gave me no idea it was gonna be that much for labor. There are 0 new parts in this repair!!!!!!!!! Ridiculous

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because. Back in May when I brought a lawn mower to him he insisted on a $45 deposit in cash to look at the mower. I had to find an ATM to get cash that was a requirement he told me.  He then told me he would look at it and let me know if it was worth fixing. Perfect. He called me and told me it would be around a $100. I said that's fine, it's worth putting the money in to it. When I dropped off the snowblower, I thought it was odd he wouldn't take the deposit, I even asked him if he wanted it? A gentleman of his years of experience upon looking at the snow blower, should of known to call me to say he was gonna need up to three hours to fix and what it was gonna cost if there was any question if it was worth fixing. A $450 blower that needed $300 worth of work should have been a question if my best interests were forefront in his mind and there were no alterior motives on his behalf. When we spoke on the phone he told me he used no new parts. He mentions in his response he used new parts but doesn't specify what they were? Something here has my radar up that he either wants it for his personal use or he wants to sell it

Review: Last week I bought my 10 yr. old snow blower to [redacted] for a tune up and to see if it was worth fixing. He charges $100 to look at it and normally a service to get it going. Blower was purchased new for 449.99 many years ago. I called him back two days later to see how he made out and he informs me that he fixed it and it would be $295. I was taken back because I never okayed any additional repair. I wanted to make a decision whether it was worth putting that kind of money into. Obviously, I wouldn't put $295 dollars into a blower that was 10 years old and paid less than $500 for. I asked him what new parts he replaced and he told me none, this was just labor? He told me it is what it is and told me to make a complaint. Well, I am! Personally, I think he likes the blower and wants to resell it or keep it. Thank, [redacted]Desired Settlement: I would like him to acknowledge he repaired the blower above the initial charge without my authorization and I'd like him to either give me a fair price for the repair of a 10 yr. old blower with no new parts or offer me a fair price to buy it

If he had asked for an estimate there would have been an upfront charge of $45, which the customer knows because I repaired his lawn mower back in May 2014 and he left a deposit for an estimate. Customer called the next day to ask how fast I could have it done as a snow storm was coming. Even though customer only paid $450 for this snow blower 10 years ago, it is an excellent machine and would cost quite a bit more today. I do not repair equipment that is not worth repairing. My labor charge was $225. I have a posted hourly labor rate of $100. There was about $40 in parts and shop supplies. I had to fully service the snow blower, clean and repair the carburetor, remove the gas tank to clean out and repair a frozen starter, remove pull cord assembly housing to r eplace gas line, adjust belts and skids, free up and adjust governor and all necessary adjustments. I spent over 3 hours getting it to run and only charged him for 2 hrs. 15 min. because he told me he was out of work.
