Review: During my Fiancs very short stay with this company, he experienced a seizure. He was not attended to by a medical professional. But was watch by a non trained medical professional for 3 hours ( check on 3 times) and was told to bang on the wall and yell for the cook [redacted] if he felt he would have another seizure. He felt so unsafe he had to ask to be taken to the hospital. The company said that they had medical personal on staff and on call at all times; however, even after a major medical episode no medical personal was reachable. During the less then three days he was in their "care" I use that term loosely he was never seen by a doctor and was prescribed by an RN anti seizure meds. The company said they would customize his therapy, never saw a doctor or a counsor to do so. At the ER the doctor there and myself tried to get a hold of the company for an hour. No one was reachable. The ER doctor finally got a call from the on call doctor in which he was waiting for before he would releaseDesired Settlement: I paid 12,000 for their services. They think that they are entitled to 5,000 of that. I have now more hospital bills and have to pay for another treatment center. No one their will give me their procedures when a major medical episode happens and will not answer my calls unless I block my number now.

The allegations made by the individual filing this complaint are false and misleading. According to our internal investigation, the client never experienced a seizure. He admitted into our Residential Treatment program complaining of a history of seizures, but he indicated that he had never been prescribed any anti-seizure medication. Our Medical Director (not the nurse) prescribed him a low dose of anti-seizure medication as a precaution, however the client then refused to take them. He later awoke from a nap complaining of a headache and a sore jaw, and he asked to go to the hospital to be evaluated for a seizure. We arranged emergency transport for him to go the hospital, where he was briefly seen by the physician there. The client was not admitted at the hospital because he did not report or show any symptoms that required hospitalization. Our medical director spoke with the hospital staff physician, and they agreed that the client should be put on anti-seizure medications as a precaution. Upon returning to the residential treatment center from the hospital, the client decided to discharge from the program against medical advice prior to being seen by our medical director for an evaluation. New Dawn has two full-time LVN nurses who are also on-call 24/7 in the event they need to be contacted regarding any client related medical issues. We also have a staff Physician who is board certified in Addictionology, and our Medical Director is a Psychiatrist with over 10 years of addiction medicine experience. At least one of our doctors is on call at all times, 24/7.It is important to note that the client was not admitted into our Detox facility, where there is a higher frequency of medical monitoring and supervision. Client was cleared for the Residential Treatment program based on the information he provided to the intake nursing staff, and based on showing stable vitals at admission. However the decision was made after his hospital visit to transfer him to the Detox facility, however the client discharged against medical advice before this could occur.Client was refunded in accordance with the terms of the Financial Agreement signed at admission.
