March 7, 2016Dear *** ***,Let me take this opportunity to thank you for allowing me to respond to the Complaint against New Eastwood Healthcare and RehabilitationThough have only been the administrator of New Eastwood for months, I believe can vouch for the wonderful care and services
that are provided to all customers, including patients and their families.To the best of my abilities, it appears that *** *** was admitted to the Center on May 6, from *** *** in EastonAccording to our records, *** *** was given a last covered day by *** on May and in addition to that, the patient had appealed and was denied her appealThe referral was made to New Eastwood at that time because New Eastwood had a more affordable private pay rateDocumentation on file revealed that *** *** was evaluated by PT and requests were being made to obtain an authorization for coverageA facsimile from May indicates that notes were sent to the insurance company requesting coverageA Notice of Denial of Medical Coverage was received on May 20th indicating that *** had denied admission to an inpatient skilled nursing centerAt that time, the Medical Director requested a peer to peer review and completed this on May 22ndBecause of the efforts of the Center and the Medical Director, benefits were granted and the payer source was changed from private pay to *** Golden Choice as of May 22, New Eastwood continued to communicate with the insurance company as requested on *** ***' progress throughout her skilled stay until June when a Notice of Medicare Non-Coverage was issued for a last covered day of June 16thIt was at that time that the center assisted in another appeal that was denied.Please accept this text as proof of the ongoing care and commitment to our customersAs always, please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concernsBest Wishes,Kay W.
