Review: I bought a 1978 [redacted] around 23 June 2015 which I found on the Classics Car site: [redacted]-for-sale-in-[redacted].

There were several misrepresentations of the car:

"very good seats and interior panels"--the seats are in fact floppy, filthy and reek of mildew. The springs are shot. The door panels are wrinkled, old and filthy.

"145 psi compression in every cylinder"-- in fact I was given no compression data, and isn't it odd they all came out to 145 exactly? Seems unlikely to me.

"new carpets, very good seats..." the carpets and seats fail to clean with foam cleaner and brushing, Carpets are not new, but look old with ground in dirt. Driver's seat won't retract, All smell like mildew. Doors take great effort to even open.

"new convertible top, tonneau" The "new" top has scratches on the plastic, at least 15 areas of red paint overspray (they didn't even bother to cover the top when painting, I guess). There is a 5 inch gash on the passenger side of the top, crudely patched with gray putty of some sort. The "new" tonneau has multiple grease stains and an iron on patch covering a tear.

"very clean red paint" Except for the uneven spots on the right, unpainted areas under the hood, overspray on the windshield frame, scraped, rusting paint at the convertible top attach points, etc. BTW, hood gap on right about 1/4 th of an inch wider than on left. Frame damage? Who knows?

"all new wire wheel splines and chrome knock offs" Only thing new about splines was the hand spray can paint applied to them. Red overspray on left front front knock off.

"very clean trunk compartment" is, in fact, filthy with surface rust covered by a moldy carpet remnant. Mr. E[redacted] talked me out of an on site inspector (my mistake), but this suggests strongly he knew the car was way overproced for its condition.

At the least, I think customers should be warned to use an escrow service and an on site inspector, if they can't get there, as was the case for me. Otherwise a huge "Caveat Emptor" for New England Classic Car Co is warranted. Mr E[redacted] complains I was slow to respond. I've had multiple doctor visits, tests and spent over 2 months in the hospital earlier this year. He bought the car back from a previous buyer, but refuses to assist me. I've even offered to pay to ship the car back. Thanks, [redacted]

Contact is Marc E[redacted] at:

[redacted]Desired Settlement: Since they have repurchased the car before and clearly overstated its value, a repurchase or sizable refund is warranted. I will likely pursue other avenues as well if there is no effort to assist me on the company's part.

Review: After many emails with [redacted] I sent him the deposit for a [redacted]. I was told in an email from [redacted] that my deposit would constitute a sale. A few days later he contacts me to tell me that there is a problem with the paperwork/vin number and he couldn't sell me the car. A couple days later I check the company website to find MY [redacted] listed as sold for more money than I paid. If there truly was a paperwork problem he should have told me to hang on, I was willing to wait. But obviously he sold MY [redacted] to someone who offered him more money.Desired Settlement: I expect the car to be sold to me as agreed.

Response:

We offered a [redacted] and told the owner full payment was immediately required. Instead, he only sent us $3,000. In preparation for, presumably, concluding a sale, we checked the title and matched it to VIN plate, we found there was a disparity. Hence, we immediately returned the check to the potential buyer and removed the car from our web site. We informed him via e mail.
