New England Classic Car Co Reviews (1)

Read the letter, offer this reponseThe biggest problem we face is dealing (after the sale) with customers who simply can't fathom THE CAR IS THEY PURCHASED IS (in this car's case) THIRTY SEVEN YEARS OLD!!!!!!!! In the real world of cars, new car dealers wouldn't look twice at a car even fifteen years olf, let alone one over a third of a century old.Nowhere in the customer's complaints did I read about issues with the engine, the transmission, the back axle, suspension, brakes, electricals, hydraulics, instruments, controls, wiring, steering, equipment, etc It was literally ALL abotu mold, dirt, worn original parts (such as interior), and a lot of speculation.Let me cover a few areas. When this car arrived at our office, having been just purchased from soneone with whom we had dealt in another deal, had steel wheels and the ugly 'rubber bumpers.' To convert to wire wheels is an expensive an somewhat time consumign convestion AND it was done with all new parts And to convert this car car to the more estheticlaly appealing chrome bumpers required hours of labor and well over $1,in parts A big job.We never painted the car, good chance it was original And, if so, incredibly well preserved. We never redid the interior, it was the cleanest, best, original interior (seats and panels) we have ever seen on an ***.(there is a fine line between a customer LOVING how original something is as opposted to being 'new.' I think the world 'patina' is a common term with antiques, old cars, and a lot of other collector's items)No explanation for some of the other things mentioned If photos are provided to us, it would happily send new replacement parts (top, tonneau) etcThe compression was psi in every cylinder, He may find it difficult to believe (why?) but to write 'in fact I was given no compression data' is like saying the car is red but I received no information on the color All in all, IF you carefuly read this complaint, it sounds like having the car 'detailed' for a day would clean, correct, and refine this car.We are not a [redacted] dealer, we do not put a lot of time and effort into 'detailing' a car, we put most of our effort into the operation of a car and its many systems When it left our company, it was in excellent running and driving condition The wire wheel conversion and the chrome bumper conversion alone cost around $5,to perform A third of the selliing price Just to find a car, such as this, in very good running'/driving condition is s hard task And getting eveything to work properly, do the conversion work we performed, etc.....and ALL for less than $15,000.IT IS THIRTY SEVEN YEARS OLD! We would be more thna happy to assist in bringing this car up to a higher level for the owner AND, if he was local, would be more than happy to perform the work in our workshop Of course, that is not practical So, all we can do is send a check to Mr [redacted] to help him (financially) take care of the things he mentioned.Marc FE***The ad on our sit with photos [redacted]
