Less than one star
It took the threat of a lawsuit to finally get our putting green completed - more than two months later than the date called for in our contract. If this statement isn’t enough to dissuade you from using this company, then read on.

Tom McNamara is the most unprofessional business man we have ever met. His lack of communication skills is deplorable. When you tell a customer you are showing up at their home on a certain day to start a project, and then don’t show up and don’t even contact them to say you actually aren’t coming, that shows a lack of respect and professionalism. This didn’t happen once or twice but four or five times.

Once he finally sent a subcontractor to the house to dig up our lawn, the subcontractor had no idea about the scope of the work. He then proceeded to leave our back yard torn up for a month with the “promise” it would be completed in 2 days.

If you are still undecided about getting a putting green, I would recommend you proceed. However, I would HIGHLY recommend you use ANY other company.

In March, 2012 my husband purchased theutting green and sand pit. It was installed within a very responsible time. He even came back to check it and filled in more sand at his cost into the sand trap. I cannot tell you how much pleasure this feature has given our family.
Hy husband who has since passed was always happy he added this feature to our yard.
We have a pool also, and both compliment each other. Could not be happier with this purchase.

We contracted for a custom putting green two months ago and to date we have no completion of job and we are out of contract date for delivery. We contracted on April 6th, 2013 for a custom putting green and inground pool fill. The total job was $8500, we paid a deposit of $4,250.00 on 4/12 by check and job was supposed to commence in two weeks from the 6th of April. It was not started until the third week of May and the pool was filled. Subsequent to that on May 30th and May 31st, stone dust and temporary putting cups were put in. On May 24th, 2013, Tom McNamara came to our house requesting "half of the half" remaining for payment, $2,250.00, we did not at that time pay this. On May 30th and May 31st he came with his crew and worked and we paid him $1,000.00 each day, total $2,000.00. We have not heard or seen from him since with a date to continue and finish the work. We are out of the 45 days per the Contract where we are entitled to our money back. Desired SettlementWe want a refund since Tom can not give a date to complete the job and we are left with a undone project. Business' Initial Response I m away and was unable to respond through the website. I haven t even read the complaint but I know our side in detail. We entered into a contract with the [redacted] s to fill their inground pool in and construct a synthetic putting green on top off filled in pool a project we are familiar with completed a five previous times. We were late in starting the project by a few weeks due to work load/weather and schedule which is covered in our terms & conditions. Upon starting the project Mr. [redacted] accused me of many things went so far as to ask for my license because he stated he had done a background check on me and I did not live were I stated ? etc. he was incorrect. We proceeded to fill the pool last week of May. Pool was filled base of putting green contoured cups installed . In June we had approximately 21 days of rain which effected our schedule. The rain also I believe created a problem (empty cavity) under the cement patio which surronds the pool. This caused the gravel materials we filled the pool in with to cause the side of the pool to collapse outward under the patio. The putting green base also collapsed in pool near this issue with the patio. At this point prior to the patio issue there was approximately one day left in completing the green and project but the patio issue had to be addressed. On a day with Mrs [redacted] on the phone discussing completing project & issue with the patio how that was extra and not in original contract but the green could not be completed until patio issue was addressed Mr. [redacted] was filling a complaint with Revdex.com asking for a refund ? The [redacted] s had prior to this filed a complaint with [redacted] I sent them a detailed response ultimately we agreed to finish the green provided the patio issue was additional. They sided with us. The 21 days of rain was a major issue in the construction of this project. The [redacted] s are very difficult people at one point Mr. [redacted] blamed us for "WEEDS" growing in a newly planeted back lawn and demanded we pull them ? I ll forward you the Masspirg report. We ve had over a 1000 customers in eleven years yes we ve had a few compaints through Revdex.com considering the amout of customers we deal with this is very small number! We also have resolved all complaints. In reviewing the companits there is a complaint by a [redacted] that case has been resolved over the winter and needs to be updated. Again that was an issue with the terms & conditions with contract which [redacted] cancelled after we had already showed up! long story it was resolved in court. Every Customer we ve had this year would give us a refferal. I ll forward you the masspirg response. Ultimately we never should have done work for the [redacted] s from the begining they treatened me & the company my employees with contempt etc. The pulling the weeds issue was ridiculous ultimately the we agreed to finish project. I almost forgot on july XX XXXX X am Mr. [redacted] was in my driveway of my residence in [redacted] Mass approximately 1 hr 20 mins from his home. I explained this to masspirg she said to call the Cops if I see him again. These people are crazy not sure how they get through life they live a constant state of paranoia . I actually let a Det Sgt know with [redacted] PD [redacted] was "stalking" me my guess he wanted to verify were I live based on his interoggation when we started the job. To his surprise and paranoia I actually do live at the address I gave him. Our rating with the Revdex.com is very important. The only reason I didn t re - up on the accredidation is because the issue with [redacted] he created a website slamming the Revdex.com & my company and stating a companies rating is based on what they pay the Revdex.com and being accreditted. I can t win ! If I m a member that s also held against us. The [redacted] issue needs to be updated as resolved. I ll forward you the masspirg response. This complaint with the [redacted] s should not affect our rating if it does I ll get a lawyer involved. Upon [redacted] being in my driveway at 6 am further he waited across the street and when I exited my residence I waved to him and pointed out to [redacted] my employee to wave. I don t feel comfortable completing the project and was advised not to by masspirg. Also I welcome a case to be brought by the [redacted] s in small claims court. Masspirg will tell you we agreed to complete project. Ultimately the patio issue needs to be addressed before the green can be completed. Thanks [redacted] XXX XXX XXXX Consumer Response This case was closed which we were not aware of, our response is below. Regarding complaint filed by [redacted] and [redacted] against Thomas McNamara and his company New England Custom Putting Greens, Inc. this is our reply to Mr. McNamara's last response. Mr. McNamara's narrative is filled with deception and lies, in fact there is "no truth" to anything he wrote. We have filed a small claims suit against Mr. McNamara and his company and win, lose, or draw we will be happy to report the results back to the Revdex.com, then you can be the judge. We have hired 6 contractors to do various jobs on our property in the past 4 1/2 years and have never had a problem with anyone except Mr. McNamara and his company New England Putting Greens. Buyer Beware, he will promise you whatever you want, take your money and then disappear. When we informed Mr. McNamara we were going forward on the small claims matter, rather then try to settle the matter or at least make an offer, his response was "bring it on, I always make out good in court." I can't speak to those other cases, all I know is we have a rock solid case against Mr. McNamara, however the fact he goes to court so often shall be a "Big Red Flag to the consumer." So, as I said, Buyer Beware! He is a unlicensed home improvement contractor who should have been licensed to fill in our inground pool, subsequently causing extensive damage, unfortunately, he doesn't address that aspect. Thank you. [redacted] and [redacted]XXX XXX XXXX

on march [redacted] I gave [redacted] $2000.00 deposit for the installation of a synthetic putting green. a few weeks ago he told me that if he wasn't here by Wednesday he would send me my money back. I called him on that Wednesday and told him to send me my money. the next day he emailed me saying that he could be at my house within a day or so but it would cost me $2000,000 more. I told him that I was having a real putting green installed and I would appreciate getting my deposit back, he said no problem, haven't heard from him since.thanks,[redacted]Product_Or_Service: insallation of synthetic putting greenAccount_Number: $6,500Desired SettlementI'm not sure what happens nowlet's do whatever it takes to get my backBusiness Response Hi this guy received his deposit back with in days of this complaint. His complaint was extremely pre mature his deposit was on the way back in the mail. His issue was he changed his mind on the putting green because he was going on a fishing trip! Technically based on the contract we did not have to refund his deposit on the custom order. We did anyway. Mr. [redacted] will respond this matters been resolved and never should have been filed period. We encourage all of our Customers to review the Terms & Conditions attached to the Contract they sign at time of Sale. Thanks, [redacted] NorthEast Synthetic Turf

I paid $2600.00 for a deposit for a putting green. This company did not install the green and left a mess in my yard.In May of 2013, I signed a contract with Tom Macnamara of New England Custom Putting Greens. I gave a $2600.00 deposit and they never made the putting green. After a couple of months, Tom Macnamara promised my putting green would be installed by July 4th. It was never completed and I have a big pile of sand in my backyard. In August, I asked for my deposit back and Tom promised he would send it in seven days. I did not get any money back and he does not return my calls.Desired SettlementI want $2600.00 that I paid to New England Putting Greens for the deposit I gave themk in May 2013. According to the contract we both signed, it says all work will be completed in a timely manner. Business Response NE Custom Putting Greens Inc. entered into a contract with Mr. [redacted] to complete a putting green at his residence. The contract was signed end of May. Construction began around July 25, 2013. N.E.C.P.G terms and conditions signed at the time of contract and deposit state that due to the custom order you have ten days to cancel after contract is signed. The terms and condition s also states that N.E.C.P.G has 60 days to deliver /build green or customer is provided a refund. N.E.C.P.G. spent approximately three days in Mr. [redacted] s yard building the putting green base with two to three employees and equipment. While we worked a contractor was painting the deck and also Mr. [redacted] s wife was home 90% of the time. There are two steps in building a green the first step is the base the second step the turf installation. At the time the base is complete the customer approves the base layout ,breaks undulations, cup placement. Prior to base completion Mr. [redacted] stated he did not like the placement of the cups. I personally went to the residence and re did the placement then concreted them into place. At this time Mr. [redacted] needed to approve of the base and also needed to be consulted regarding the back of the green as to the severe slope. I was going to recommend rocks to strengthen the slope from rain etc. also cobblestone blocks had been discussed but not decided upon for a border separating the lawn and green. Mr. [redacted] went on vacation for the 4 th of July Holiday . I attempted to contact Mr. [redacted] three times by phone over the next couple weeks at which point I thought he may have a summer home that he went to for the month? I also went to the residence knocked on the door and left a letter in the mailbox stating we needed to discuss the green base and slope before the turf is installed etc. No response! On day 61 of the 60 day period at which N.E.C.P.G. Terms and conditions state Customer gets refund if we don t complete the green. Mr. [redacted] calls asking for a refund. This was clearly planned by Mr. [redacted] to delay the completion of the green til day 61 at which time he contacts Me and asks for a refund? I m twelve years I have learned communication is key to a good customer relationship. I ve also learned and the process is clearly stated we do not install very expensive turf on a base without the customers approval. We spent three days in Mr. [redacted] s yard! Employees, equipment, and material, building the green base and after numerous attempts to contact Mr. [redacted] he calls on day 61! The work completed, base materials, custom turf ordered for his green cost well over the initial deposit of 2600. We are willing to call it even and will not be taking Mr .[redacted] to small claims court for our expenses beyond the initial deposit. Thanks Tom McNamara NE Custom Putting Greens, Inc. Final Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)Mr MacaNamara keeps referring that I cancelled within 60 days. It was 94 days from May 18th, when the contract was signed, to August 20th, when I asked for my money back. Why did he tell me on August 20th that he would send my full refund within 7 days? The end result is tnat I paid $2600.00 for something that I did not recieve. Final Business Response [redacted] here is our response to [redacted] s response. Our terms & conditions state by Mass general law that a consumer has three days to cancel on a custom order to receive a refund on their deposit. My company gives our customers TEN (10) days from the date of contract. The issue with Mr. [redacted] is we worked in his yard for three days moving nine tons of aggregate and completed the base of the green. The cups were then installed at which point Mr. [redacted] called me to tell me he did not like the cup locations. I then personally went to his house and re installed / moved the cups myself. At this time Mr. [redacted] went on vacation around July 4 th. At this point we needed Mr. [redacted] to approve of the base , the cups, the layout and undulations before expensive turf could be installed. Once the turf is cut and shaped there's no going back. Realizing Mr. [redacted] had stated he wanted the cups redone I was not proceeding in cutting turf until he approved the base and shape. I attempted to contact Mr. [redacted] after the 4 th of July holiday with no luck by phone, went to the house twice no one was home and I thought Mr. [redacted] my have a summer home and was on vacation for the month of July. I then left a letter/note in his mailbox with a diagram of what the green would look like along with a request to call me so we could finish. The turf was in his yard at this point. No response! In retrospect I should have sent a certified letter but I don t have crystal ball and I assumed Mr. [redacted] would call me back. Never happened until he s saying 94 days I m saying after 60 which states in our contract if we haven t shown up he gets a refund. We showed up! Mr. [redacted] at some point decided he did not want this green after we had been in his yard for three days witnessed by painters painting his deck and house. His modest deposit went to labor and materials which had been exhausted at that point. It was always our intention to complete the putting green but we need a customers input this is a custom process no putting green in a 1000 we have built is the same. In twelve years experience I am not installing expensive turf over custom breaks and undulations and hoping the customer likes it. This is the equivalent of having a contractor paint your house when you don t know the color until the end! This is when the contractor doesn t get paid because the customer tells them they picked the wrong color! Further Mr. [redacted] showed his true colors and went to a bogus business extortion site called "[redacted]" . Currently there are many lawsuits associated with this site which has zero credibility and extorts between two to three thousand dollars from a business in order to respond. Even after a response there is no outcome, grading system, nothing credible for the consumer or the business. They just extort money. Anyone can make a false claim on any business it will never be removed. Businesses such as your own Mr. [redacted]! Mr [redacted] I challenge you to take my company to small claims court and let the results be published on the Revdex.com site. Further your going to court Mr. [redacted] beyond small claims for your bogus [redacted] I suggest you get your story in order because this will cost way more than that putting green was going to cost that you decided you didn t want when almost completed. May I suggest in the future you read your Terms & Conditions when signing a contract. Thanks Tom McNamara
