Best self-publishing for the money!
I have dealt with New Harbor Press for the past two years and have nothing but great things to say about them. I have had books published through their traditional company, Crosslink Publishing for years and was thrilled when they ventured out with New Harbor Press, as a self-publishing subsidiary. For the cost of just under $500, you get the same great publishing as their traditional model. This includes taking your manuscript thru formatting and typeset, to creating a professional cover and great distribution. Including keeping you abreast of what is going on thru their “Project Plan” link. Some people will say, “Well you can publish for free with Amazon.” Yes, you can, but you yourself have to do all the work of formatting, typeset, creating a cover, or paying someone to make one for you. Then you have to take the time and effort to run it through the Amazon system, or the very complicated and frustrating system thru Ingram Spark. Also, if you go thru Amazon, your book will ONLY be distributed through Amazon. This so-called, “Expanded Distribution” thru Amazon is a joke. Not only do they rarely place your book on other sites, but you get pennies on the dollar in royalties. When you publish through New Harbor Press your book gets worldwide distribution, not just on Amazon. And to get all of that for the price of under $500 bucks, it’s a great deal!

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2015/08/24) */
First, the consumer actually has an agreement with New Harbor Press (www.newharborpress.com), not *** *** as he claimed
The consumer hired New Harbor Press (NHP) to print his book after he discovered that bookstores could not
order the book he created through *** due to their poor quality and processesNHP explained that our printer was *** whose quality & reputation did make the book orderable through bookstores
The consumer paid $for an ISBN number, print setup and distribution through *** Distribution for monthsThose deliverables were met on 6/11/
Shortly thereafter the consumer began calling to find out why the book was not selling and why it was not stocked in bookstoresWe explained to him the difference between producing a book that is "orderable" and one that is stocked on the shelvesWe (nor would any other publisher) would never guarantee a book would be stocked on the shelves, but his book is orderable by any bookstore using their traditional electronic ordering methods
Books are by default labeled as "non-returnable" in the distribution catalog to prevent thousands of copies from being printed and then returned by bookstores when they don't sell, with significant negative financial impact to the publisher
Like all subsidy/self-publishers, we offer options for the author to allow his book to be labeled as "returnable" to increase the likelihood that it would be carried in storesOn multiple occasions, we have pointed the consumer to the page describing our bookstore return program (http://newharborpress.com/marketing/bookstore-return-program/) and he has repeatedly opted not to participate
In his complaint the consumer makes several requests:
Update *** to list book as "returnable." Consumer has the option to purchase this feature and has opted not to do so
Submit it for review to *** and *** and *** We are not a marketing firm and do not submit books for reviewWe simply print and distribute books through our distributor
List it for sale on his websitesNew Harbor Press does not list any books for sale on its websiteBooks published by NHP are only listed for sale by the retailers who elect to sell them
Call meWe have called and emailed the consumer many times and after his belligerent and profane dialog have informed him we are no longer willing to engage him in a phone conversation
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 11, 2015/08/26) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
If *** *** is going to be the publisher for the book, *** *** he needs to select "returnable" through *** to make the book salable instead of attempting to ask for more money please for copies that have not been returnedIt's that simple
Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 26, 2015/10/02) */
Since *** *** is unable to sell *** *** ISBN # XXX-X-XXXXX-XXX-X because he refuses to feature it on either of his websites, *** or newharborpress.com AND is not making it returnable so book stores can order it nor has he sold single copy or paid any royalties to the author, *** ** ***, please refund the $to *** *** *** *** *** MT XXXXX and cancel accountThanks
Final Business Response /* (4000, 28, 2015/10/05) */
***'s response is incorrect the book has been distributed for months as paid forAnd it is for sale on *** as shown here: http://www.***.com/***
Since New Harbor Press has met the terms of its contract there is no opportunity for a refundNHP considers this matter closed
