New Homes IL Reviews (3)

Miller Construction has been as Civil as humanly possible with *** and *** *** regarding the issues at their homeThe issue with the insulation fix is *** and *** will not allow our insulator to perform the job because of a family member who has a medical condition which they were
afraid would be an issue. As for the other minor items there mortar holes and the sump pump cover were on a list to complete at the time we were going to fix the insulation issueWe were just notified on August 7th that *** and *** did not want to proceed with the insulation fix and wanted a compensation for it instead, It would be better to actually fix the issue rather than not in our opinion. The mortar holes are on a schedule to be completedThe sump pump lid is not a warranty item however we have asked our foundation contractor to provide a new lid as a courtesy. As a whole *** and ***s home turned out great and is a solid built home with great amenitiesAlthough we strive to please our clients there are just some people that you can never seem to please. Anyone looking to build with us we have a list of 25+ satisfied clients that we have built for that we would be happy to share as references

I am rejecting this response because:
When we first filed our complaint (almost a month ago), Miller Construction responded to us for the first time in months and agreed to take care of the issues However, after learning about a negative review we posted at the same time, Chris Miller stated that he would need to contact his attorney to come up with a plan and get back to us that week Over the last weeks, he has not contacted us and gives us a different excuse each time we contact him The mortar is most definitely not on a schedule to be fixed- we have been trying to get him to commit to scheduling the warranty work and he hasn't Also, the second floor box sills were not insulated during construction The insulating company he uses suggested cutting holes in our floors and outer walls to fill with spray foam Our son has reactive airway disease and after reviewing the msds for the spray foam, we felt that it would be bad for him to have this done now that we are living in our home We were also concerned about the structural issues with this plan We voiced our concerns with the insulator and he offered no alternatives We eventually decided to ask for compensation instead since we may have to hire someone else or deal with burst pipes etc We had another contractor look over the situation and he gave an acceptable solution and an estimate of There is another major insulation job that we have been waiting for Miller Construction to move forward on- it is the porch ceiling/laundry room floor that were not insulated properly during constructionWe have been repeatedly asking for them to schedule the work since they have agreed to this over a year ago Now, we are trying to get our house ready for winter and we continue to get the runaround from Miller Construction Since filing our complaint, they have agreed to complete everything as agreed upon, then Chris Miller said he needs to contact an attorney, then said we are hurting their livelihood with negative reviews, changed his business name on the Revdex.com, but still has not moved forward at all to actually take care of these warranty issues

I am rejecting this response because:
Hello,    Please see below for the outcome of this complaint.   The business owner stated that he is not willing to complete our warranty work unless we now agree to sign a vague review censorship agreement.   We feel that this is an inappropriate request from a business - especially since the warranty work was in our contract and agreed upon a long time ago.  He also wanted to require us to include a statement in any review we wrote, which seemed unsettling to us.   We made sure that the statements presented as facts in our review were true and had documentation to back them up.   Unfortunately, we will be paying for the warranty items out of our pocket and it doesn't appear that this case will have a satisfactory conclusion.    Thank you for your assistance,  [redacted]
