New Jersey Siding & Windows Inc. Reviews (2)

Review: NJ Siding & Windows installed siding on our home. The entire project was completed February 2014. During the winter, we noticed there were certain corners of the siding that had buckled along the corner of the garage, as well as the back of our home. The owner, [redacted], came to our home in April 2014. At that time, we showed him where they ran the siding right on top of a pre-existing wood garden bed and our deck. We showed him pictures we had taken back in December 2013 when the project was ongoing that showed the siding was placed directly on top of these structures with no room for siding or wood expansion. He agreed it was on them to fix the repair (lifetime labor guarantee in their contract). They have since recanted, and only fixed the garage, leaving the entire back of our home susceptible to future damage since they refuse to put a space in between the deck and siding. They blamed this on our deck shifting during the winter (which doesn't explain the garage and why they fixed that) and that our deck is floating and not attached to the home. This is incorrect as our deck is attached to the home. We simply want them to come out and make these adjustments/changes so the siding isn't right on top of our deck so we don't have any siding shifting in the future. They said we'd have to pay them for it, and we just paid them $40k for the job. Wood does not shift during cold, it shifts during warmer months. They didn't leave any space between the siding and deck, which is going to cause future shifting. All we are asking is that they come back here and cut back the siding to allow for some expansion space. They knew the deck existed prior to the siding installation and needed to calculate this before installation. Vinyl siding expands and contracts much more than wood. We have attempted several times with numerous phone calls to rectify this but they don't feel like coming out to cut the bottom of the siding back, which would alleviate the whole potential future issue. Proper installation = no issue.Desired Settlement: We would like them to come out to our home and cut back the siding and correlating trim work that is right on top of our deck. This does not require them to replace any materials as an added expense. Simply cut back what is already existing to allow the vinyl siding space to expand and contract so we do not have any future problems with the siding shifting. They came and fixed the garage agreeing it was on them, but refuse to take preventative measure to adjust back of the home's vinyl siding.

Review: We contacted the New Jersey Siding and Windows INC company to give us a free estimate how much would it cost to change our siding and some windows.

When the representative [redacted] came we pointed to him that our front windows have rotten frames and that we want to replace them. He showed us different types of windows and he convinced us that we don't have to replace the siding but we should replace all windows and he showed us a samples. We were in the middle of the house renovation / painting, new floor installation - no furniture in the house,.../ and he told us that if we sign the contract today he will give us $1000 discount. We wanted to wait so we can take a close look at what he is offering but he convinced us that we should do it that day because otherwise the discount offer is no good anymore. We signed a contract and gave him a deposit of $5,400.00.

One week and few days later they sent an another technician [redacted] to take the measurements of the windows. To our surprise he was measuring only the inside of the windows. We asked him why and then he finally explained to us that they will only retrofit our old window frames with the new window inserts. The old rotten frame will stay in and be just covered with some aluminum cladding. That is the first time that we learned what the term " replacement window" really means.

We where shocked.

We where really mad that we were mislead by their sale representative who left us with the notion that the whole windows will be changed - frame included.

We told the sale person that we want to replace the whole windows - not just part of it.

So we stop them right on the spot and told them that we were not and will never be interested to retrofit our old rotten windows frames with new vinyl windows. That we wanted to replace the whole windows.

One week later the owner of the company [redacted] and the sale representative [redacted] returned back to our house and " were willing to work with us". They offer us that they will replaced the whole windows but the product that they showed us looked very different from the one they showed us before - some kind of cheep vinyl window without insulation unknown manufacturer and the price for each window was $200 more. They didn't even wrote the name of the manufacturer in the contract. We refused they offer and asked them again to return our deposit.

We sent them few emails in which we repeatedly asked them to return our deposit but they don't want to do it - they keep telling us that they have to meet with us again. That we didn't cancel our contract in 3 days as it is stated in the contract . We told them that there was no reason to cancel this contract on the beginning because we thought that we are getting what we asked for. We told them that we learned what they are really planning to do only on the day of measurements taking. That day we called them and sent them an email to with the request of cancellation due to misinformation. But so far they just keep sending us emails that we have to meet again with us both in order to resolve this matter. However, we don't want to meet with them anymore. We don't trust them what so ever. We don't want them do come to our house again.

Our intention to replaced our rotten windows was completely clear from the beginning but their misleading sale practices and the pressure to sign the contract on the spot was total manipulation.

We are asking them to return our deposit leave us alone.Desired Settlement: We want them to return our whole deposit.

Response:

Hi [redacted],Per our conversation attached please find the contract and related paperwork for the above complaint. As you can see the word Replacement is clearly on the contract in a couple of places (I circled). We are willing to try to resolve this with them, but we must meet with both of them which I offered to do at any time of day and they refused. As I told you I did go to meet with them and he wasn’t there, at that time we changed the scope of the work and gave them what they now were asking for new construction windows, which require more material and labor, but they refused. That is as far as I got.If there is any additional info you require let me know and I will forward what I have as far as e-mail correspondence. As I mentioned the customer has filed a chargeback with the credit card company and I am waiting for the paperwork from the credit card company.Thank you for your attention to this matter.Regards,[redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:When we scheduled the first appointment we told the sale representative that we need to change our front windows because the windows frames are rotting. He told us that there is no problem that they can replace our windows. He didn't explained to us what the term "replacement windows" means./ We never ever heard that term before./ We assumed that they will replace the whole windows - including the frame / that was the reason we wanted to change the windows/ but the sale representative let us believed that they will replaced the whole windows. That was very dishonest way to trick us to give them deposit and sign the contract and because they came to take the measurement 1 week later during which process it was finally explained to us what they are planning to do - we missed our 3 days cancelation period. When they came to "solve" this with us again they came 1PM in the afternoon during the regular business day - of course that my husband was at work. They wrote a "variation of contract" form in which the price of the windows increased drastically and wanted me to sign it on the spot again. They showed me a different type of window which look horrible so I refused. I told them that I have to discussed it with my husband. After our discussion we came to the conclusion that this is not a good deal anymore and we asked them again to cancel our contract and refund our deposit which they keep refusing till today.I would like to know why they refusing to return our deposit. The estimate was for free and the moment they came to measure the windows we stop them and let them know that we are canceling our order - so they couldn't order those windows. They just keep insisting to meet with us again - may be so they can charge us for their time. We don't trust them anymore.

Regards,
