Review of New Meaning Dry Wall Mike and Lucy Gonzalez 92nd Street Lubbock

Tried to give me a bid without much specifications. I found a contract online, but I was too inexperienced to understand how specific I needed to detail the work. They had no proof of insurance and no current references.

I was told that the molding didn't need to be painted; that they would just clean them.

Pulled things like all of a sudden a certain wall, like the wall behind where the fridge stood was extra. And while we had a greed on painting the bathroom, now the ceiling was going to be extra. And now the top part of the bathroom wall was going to be extra.

If he told me he was leaving people to do x, 5 minutes later they would be gone.

The stuff to do dry wall float and texturing was very stinky. The job site was never cleaned up - trash lying about and containers etc left for days, weeks.

He damaged my tub surround, and I saved the pieces for him to match and later paste in. Later I found these precious pieces outside of the dumpster.

Of course the work that was supposed to take 2 weeks took months.

On most walls, the wall color was on the ceiling and the ceiling color was on the wall.

When the painting was nearing completion, noticing many many defects, I marked some of them, asking for improvements. The painter, Michael Gonzalez, erupted, claiming I was being unreasonable. It looked to me like I was going to get beaten. I tried everything to calm the situation down, asking that I negotiate with his wife or that we talk later. I went into my RV and still I was getting yelled at. I tried to call other people to help negotiate. Finally I had to call the police. When the police sent me away, two cars full of his relatives were arriving, to confront... well now it was the police and not just me!

The bathroom ceiling was never "cut in", meaning the paint around the edges was never done.
There was no patching. So I had to patch at least 200 places and paint over where I had patched. If a painter has never heard of spakling, I wonder if he is a painter.

It took 3 weeks for me to clean the slop of the wall color off the molding: three weeks of full-time labors chemically removing slopped wall color. I decided that the reason I was told that they didn't need to be painted was that this painter couldn't pain straight enough to do them. I painted much of the molding.

The tub surround was badly damaged and I discovered while trying to repair it that the wrong kind of paint had been used.-- something that should never have been used in a tub area. The paint company that had recommended him was really sore at this wrong paint and very embarrassed at what had happened. Don't use paint stores for recommendation: the painters and not you are their customers.

Obviously, I don't think you want to use this man in any business deal.

Also, he recommended a roofer, who he said was his mentor, named Jaime Rivera. This roofer told me that my roof was totaled because of hail damage. I demanded pictures from his daughter, who said she would give them to me, and then was very patronizing like I didn't understand insurance. Well, I never go the pictures. The insurance adjuster said there was not hail damage at all. However, the fact that I filed a claim goes against my insurance record. I think you can understand why a 60 year woman doesn't want to climb on a roof. But notice, this scoundrel was mentor to the other.
