This bank is one of the most incompetent financial institutions that I have ever worked with. The company is staffed by people that read scripts who seem incapable of independent thought.
I received several notices from NYCB telling me that my loan had to be paid off after it was acquired from another lender. They told me that the loan could not be refinanced because they didn't service Maryland and need to be paid off within a certain period.
I responded by paying off the line as requested. After paying the loan I received daily phone calls from NYCB personnel attempting to verify my mailing address--which I had attempted to change in the system weeks before. These phone calls often came in the early morning pacific time after I informed them that I was located in Cali. During each call they required me to verify my address and told me that they were sending a form which I had to complete to verify my address. I completed the form, yet they continued to call me, daily without explanation.
In frustration I refused to confirm my mailing address earlier today when they called and the woman hung up on me. I called asking for a supervisor and was told by the first operator that my account was delinquent. He referred to it as "home retention." I explained that I had paid my loan off and he insisted that I had not and that I owed the bank money. He made a assumption that I found inappropriate given the amount of information that he had at the time.
I then spoke with someone in home retention. Who informed me that I had an outstanding balance of $45 that was due. She then realized the bank was holding $46. According to her, the bank decided not to apply the funds because that would have closed the account. She insisted that the bank wasn't aware that I wanted to pay the loan in full.
I find that strange because they insisted that I pay the loan and close it.
The woman informed me that I needed to send a letter requested that my loan be closed to stop the daily phone calls. I promptly sent a letter via fax and hope that it solves the problem.
I find it unusual that a bank would call daily for weeks, and send multiple letters before really getting to the root of the problem.

Review: We received a letter from this company dated August ** 2013, stating we have been overdrawn for 7 days and overdrawn balance of $3.48. If we did not make a deposite they were going to deactivate atm/debit card. We had no idea what this was so we called. The lady would not give me much information, but wanted us to make a deposit, I explained we had no card or no account, she said the account was opened online in 2007, would not give me any more info, I said you can see there is no activity or never was, and she said I could send a letter or go to website to address this matter, she could not cancel out account. I was driving down the road at the time and was unable to get website. Today when I called to try to straighten this matter up. Spoke to a lady to try to clear this up and although I gave her the account number on letter and verifed addresse, she wanted me to give her my full SS number, I said I wouldnt do that, tried to give her the last 4 numbers and she insisted I give her my full SS number. I refused and told her I would contact Revdex.com to clear this up. Back in 2007 I opened an account with AMtrust with a $100 deposite, Did nothing with it, I thought it would earn interest as I can recall. Ive never done anything with it and apparentlly they started a monthly charge and the money is all used up. All I want is it closed and cleaned off. I do not want this on our credit report or as a collection.Desired Settlement: Cleared off,closed and not put on our credit report.
