Review: We were assigned this company from HUD home repair loan. There was no choice according to the HUD rep. The got us the mortgage for the repairs and deducted what they stated was the HUD credit. The began doing renovations to the outside of the house which included new roof, storm doors, siding, building a porch for the front and the rear entrances, 14 new windows. As they finished one project we would inspect and request corrections to poorly done work. We requested written guarantees for all items they were installed. According to them they are the ones that guarantee all their work. I requested the manufacturers guarantee but again was told that they are responsible. Recently we noticed a crack in the concrete of the front entrance porch. We got no response from them we we would leave messages on the phone and email. I wrote a registered letter to them detailing the issues and it was returned as not deliverable after 30 day by the post office.Desired Settlement: comply with the written contract to replace defective items and replace the cracking cement in the front porch.

Response:

I have met with [redacted] and reached the following resolution:

1. we have replaced the front driveway gate with a new wrought iron gate

2. the cement crack was determined to be natural settling of the porch, and not within our warranty or responsibility.

this has all be done and resolved in late March.

Thanks

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I have just received notification that my complaint against New York Construction has been dismissed due to my lack of responding. Nothing can be further from the truth.

When I received the email as to their response I responded to that email stating that his response was not acceptable. To call it natural settling on a $17000 construction job is ludicrous. There are cracks in the concrete and in the stonework which occurred within 2 years and continue to crack.

I received 2 calls from your office over the issue and both times I stated that I was not accepting his response and only 1 of the items was completed, that was the gate. They have to come back and correct the porch since it could cause a safety issue since the the cracks continue to appear.

In the second phone call the employee stated that [redacted] had been out of business for over a year which was not true since the company that installed the gate were sent by him and they were the same company. After the initial complaint he came over to talk over the issues and he never stated that he was out of business.

My complaint is still not resolved.

Review: I HAD SIDING AND 2 BAY WINDOWS INSTALLED ON MY HOUSE JANUARY AND FEBUARY OF 2013. ONE OF THE WINDOWS DEVELOPED A WATER LEAK AND BLACK MOLD IN THE WOOD ON THE BOTTOM APPROXIMATELY TWO MONTHS AFTER INSTALLATION AND WAS REPLACED. THE SECOND WINDOW HAS NOW DEVELOPED A BLACKENING OF THE BOTTOM WOOD.I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT THIS COMPANY WITHOUT ANY SUCCESS.I LEFT A MESSAGE ON THEIR ANSWERING MACHINE BUT NO ONE HAS RETURNED MY CALL. I HAVE ALSO CALLED THE SALESMAN FROM THIS COMPANY AND A MESSAGE IS SAYING THAT HIS NUMBER IS NOT IN SERVICE.I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO CALL THE SUBCONTRACTOR WHO INSTALLED THE WINDOWS. I HAVE ALSO LEFT MESSAGES FOR HIM TO CALL ME BUT HE HAS NOT RETURNED MY CALLS. HIS NAME IS [redacted] AND HIS PHONE NUMBER IS ###-###-####.THE WINDOWS ARE [redacted] WINDOWS WITH A LIFETIME GUARANTEE. I ALSO CONTACTED A [redacted] FROM [redacted] @###-###-#### WHO DID COME TO MY HOUSE AND SAW THE PROBLEM. HE TOOK PICTURES AND TOLD ME HE WOULD CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER. THIS WAS BACK IN MAY OR JUNE. THE LAST SEVERAL TIMES I TRIED TO CONTACT [redacted] I LEFT A MESSAGE AND HE HAS NOT CALLED ME.Desired Settlement: I WOULD LIKE TO GET THE WINDOW REPLACED.

Review: Had (over priced) windows installed ([redacted]?, not sure). One window doesn't open. Another has a seal issue and leaks with rain or melting snow. Purchased custom doors and had them installed -one was supposed to have double key entry- it's only 1 key. Another the bolt no longer works. Custom doors didn't fit right and wood strips were placed on existing marble slabs at each door and people often trip over them. On another key hole is upside down. On that same door the area on the wall where the bolt goes into was apparently placed incorrectly and was filled so bolt would fit and has very sharp edges.Desired Settlement: Corrections for all of the listed issues and sufficient credit to remedy issues if company cannot fix and for what would have been a fair price for the windows and doors to begin with had I not been overcharged.

Review: This is the second complaint against the company. We had some work done on our home a few years back. According to the agreement if anything is broken or needs fixed within 10yrs the company is supposed to replace or fix it. However every time I call and leave a message I get no response. I called once on Friday 9/** , 9/** & 9/**. The saddle in the kitchen needs to be replaced.Desired Settlement: I would like the company to be true to their word. I don't want to have to make a formal complaint every time I need to have a repair done.

Review: New York Construction gutted our kitchen and bathroom in 2012 and remodeled it. We were told that the work was under warrenty. Unfortunatly we do not have a copy of what is under warrenty and what is not. However my wife put a call in on Dec [redacted] stating the problem and asking for a repair. She was told that someone would call her back within the hour, two days later still no call. She called the on that Wed the [redacted] and Thursday and Friday still no response. The call are routed to a call center and someone is supposed to call you back. Still waiting.Desired Settlement: Our request is to have the repair done, as well as a copy of the contract that states what is covered under the warrenty.

Review: I had some work done by New York Construction Co. I wasn't happy with the work they done. My wife and I called several times to complain about the issues however no one came to resolve the problems until this day to even to check the jobs these are the jobs that I am not happy with. (1) The installation of my Tankless water Heater was unprofessional, for example there is a hanging cord above my basement sink. (2) My energy efficient Entry door with 2 Sidelights was unprofessionally installed. Now I have a draft and when it rains the water comes in the house through the door and sidelights. (3) My two backyard doors basement and second floor energy efficient doors were unprofessionally installed and have drafts coming through. They shortened both door entrances and left the old corroded wood frames and placed new wood on top of it instead of replacing everything. The Thermal Sealant takes a week, but it took them 5 hours to cement and paint with one coat. Now I have several chips in some areas of my house. When my wife or I call them they didn't want to speak to us. Since I'm paying the loan on this Home Improvement jobs, I'm not happy with what they did because the had people doing muli tasks instead having people specializing in that trade. We were told by the sales represent that all workers specialize in their profession. The work is still not completed.Desired Settlement: DON'T WANT TO DEAL WITH THEM ANYMORE.

Response:

Dear [redacted],

Please be advised that we are in receipt of your complaint and would like to inform you that I have personally been trying to get in contact with you in order to not only schedule the masonry work that has yet to be done due to the earlier scheduling conflict between our mason and yourselves, but to also address the issues you have brought up in your complaint. I have left voicemails on both the home and cell number that we have on record. If you can kindly call me back so we can discuss the aforementioned, it would be greatly appreciated. You also mentioned that you have tried contacting our company with no response. While I am not aware who in the company you have tried to reach out to nor can I comment on whether or not your calls were received, I do know that I personally have not received any calls or messages from you. You should have my business card that contains my personal cell phone number, but in the event that you no longer have it, I am providing my cell phone number. Please call me at your earliest convenience at ###-###-#### so we can address any issues you may be having with either the work or service that you contracted our company for.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

> To Whom it may concern: > > I [redacted] and [redacted] homeowner o[redacted]. I wrote to you about my complaits of New York Construction company on Dec 2013. They contacted us to try to resolve the issues. They did several work on my house and most of them we have issues with. We had three doors put in. We had the front entry door has water leaks coming through the sidelights and probably not set and the two back doors not set right cause drafts come through these doors. We had the thermosealant in the back wall of the house with one coat of sealeat instead of two. Now I have water damage to the room where they did the wall and in the bathroom we get water leaks. The job they did is not satisfactory. The tankless water heater is unprofessional installed. Since we try to work with them from that day. They decided not to work with us. I'm paying loan for a sloppy job. I don't want them to work on my house anymore. I would like some restitution or refund. The sales representive [redacted] call my wife and stated that he was going to work on the problems when it got warmer in 2014, but didn't hear from him or New York Construction. Now I have water damage to the walls downstairs and to the cement on the outside. The sealer that they put is cracking the bricks and the cement. We have pictures of the water coming into the house. If any questions call ###-###-####.

Review: We recently had major work completed on our home this past summer of 2013. One major completion was our porch and siding. Some areas were in need of capping after water was leaking into the cement and basement ceiling under porch which was also just completed. They came out a second time and placed some capping and corked the rest. The corking did not work the other areas need to be capped as well. I get a tremendous amount of water leakage any time it snows or rains. The ceiling is beginning to bubble and mold is forming. I spoke w/ a few weeks ago and was told that once the weather cleared he would send someone out to complete and correct the job. Now since the weather is better I have called NYCC main number and additional number numerous times and still have not gotten a call back. I was unable that day to save his personal cell number. We also need warranty paperwork regarding all the work that was done as stated.Desired Settlement: Capping on remaining areas where water is seeping through. Correction of ceiling underneath since water caused paint to bubble, mold, and weaken.
