font-family: 'Lucida Sans Unicode', sans-serif;">Dear [redacted]:We are in receipt of your letter of November *, 2014, on behalf of [redacted]. We researched the account on behalf of New York magazine, and now provide the following response:On or around November **, 2013, [redacted] made a purchase through [redacted], a magazine subscription agent, for a 42-issue subscription to New York magazine. Although our policy is to have the customers deal directly with magazine agent (###-###-####), in this case, we have contacted [redacted], on [redacted]’s behalf and confirmed the New York magazine subscription was canceled on November **, 2013 and [redacted]’s credit card was not charged, however his magazine copies continued to be mailed. We have since suspended the delivery service which will be effective with the December 2014 issue. I appreciate this opportunity to be of service.

Review: On 4/**/15 I sent a check to New York Magazine in the amount of $24.94 for a special promotion to extend my 1 year subscription and to buy a gift subscription for a friend. My subscription was ending June [redacted] The last issue I received was the June ** issue. When the July ** issue didn't arrive, I called customer service, who claimed that my subscription had run out and that the promotion I had paid for was only for one subscription (the gift subscription). This is not true and I asked them to send me a copy of the form I had filled out, which they said I had to request in writing. I refuse to do this as I refuse to spend any money on a stamp to receive what I've already rightfully paid for. Instead I am writing to you to help me continue my entire 1 year extended subscription. I have been a subscriber to NY Magazine for many, many years. Someone there must have typed the wrong promotion code into their system.Desired Settlement: I want my entire 1 year subscription continued from the July ** issue or from whenever this is resolved. If not, I will never, ever subscribe to this magazine again.

Review: I purchased a gift subscription in December 2013 to go to my daughter in [redacted].

I was billed $59.94 in error for the $24.95 subscription and have NOT received a credit for the $34.99 owed to me !

I have called them at least 6 times without resolution. Each rep told me a different story; I am thoroughly disgusted.

They claim the amount was credited to my daughter's acct on 1/*/14. She confirmed never having given her credit card information to NY Mag.

Why would they credit HER card when I paid for subscription with MY card ? We even checked her bank statements because she got a new card number after the TARGET breach, but NO deposit from them into [redacted]'s account OR mine has ever occurred.

Last week I was told it was handled, still no refund to the credit card I paid with. I have filed a dispute with Capital One.Desired Settlement: $34.99 credited to my acct and an apology.

Review: I am a longtime subscriber to New York magazine, and I purchased a renewal for my current New York magazine subscription through the company [redacted]. Three issues ago I received double issues of the magazine. I promptly called customer service, and told them that the second subscription was to be a renewal, effective when my current subscription expired on 12/*/13. Customer service didn't dispute receiving my order, but said that my [redacted] subscription began in January, and that they had been sending me duplicate issues since then. I told them that this was the first duplicate I received, and they told me that all the other issues (approximately 24 in number?) must have been "misdelivered" by my postman. Although the renewal was in my business name, I've lived at this address for nearly 30 years, and have RARELY had either my personal or business mail "misdelivered". (All told, I have subscriptions to over a dozen monthly and weekly publications, which I receive without issue.) I told them I simply wanted my subscription extended one year from the expiration of my current subscription (as per my renewal purchase, which they did not dispute), and they refused to consider this.Desired Settlement: I simply want my current subscription extended the full year from the expiration of my current year. As mentioned, I've been a loyal NY magazine subscriber for YEARS, and I'm not sure why they're treating such a repeat subscriber in this uncompromising manner.

Business

Response:

Dear [redacted],

I have received your complaint regarding your New York magazine subscription. It is so odd that you hadn't received the duplicate copies from January through August since we were, in fact, sending you two copies of each issue. When you called Customer Service in August, the customer service rep combined the two subscriptions, extending your current renewal by 18 issues (the remaining amount on the "renewal").

We have now extended your subscription an additional 24 issues to equal the 42 issues you had purchased on your renewal through [redacted]. Your subscription will now serve the full year from the expiration of the current year, as you requested. You should see this change on the expiration date printed on your label starting next week (the 10/** issue, arriving in-home the week of 10/**).

Apologies for the inconvenience.

Review: On July **, 2014, I requested them to cancel my subscription and to refund the unused payment that I had made. There was no address to send it to but I found their email address, [redacted]. No reply came by Sept ** so I sent them a follow up letter and stated that I would contact you if no reply came by Oct. ** and none has come. My subscription number is [redacted].Desired Settlement: Refund of unused portion of my cost calculated as of July **, 2014 as they have delayed making it and a current date for refund calculation would be inequitable.
