Review: My family just recently relocated to Florida from New York. We hired New York New York Moving and Storage to move our belongings. The moving day was 9/**/13 and was supposed to begin around 7 am. They finally got to our home around 3:45pm! It didn't end all that well. They told us that they couldn't fit all our belongings in their truck, but in the end, they did. They also told us as my husband signed the papers, that it was going to cost us substantially more than what we were told. We had received a binding estimate from [redacted], who was the representative my husband had dealt with from the beginning, who promised that the price couldn't change. On 9/**/13, we were instructed to speak with [redacted] who was the owner of the company. She stated we had very bulky items and that we had approximately 80-90 boxes which was outrageously false. This woman was the nastiest person I have come across in a long time. They ended up charging us $3,844 instead of the estimated $2900. Our estimated delivery time was 4-7 business days which then turned into 7-10 business days on the night of our move. It didn't arrive until 10/**/13 which was the 12th business day. On top of that, our stuff came off the truck damaged. I have only begun to assess the damages. Things were not properly packed. No bubble wrap or shrink wrap was used which, to me, is a standard practice with moving companies. The items that I know are damaged as of now is a dining room table, a mounted mahi mahi fish, a hinged wicker storage bin, and a toilet paper holder/cabinet. Unfortunately, during the unloading into storage, I had my * year old and * year old sons with me which proved to be quite challenging to view most of my belongings. [redacted] also made the final payment process a nightmare!! I had gone to my local supermarket to get money orders which they had requested as form of payment for our down payment on moving day. But then upon delivery, I had purchased money orders from my bank which were refused by [redacted]. She stated that she usually only accepted cash but a postal money order would be my second option. So, I then had to go back to my bank, cash the money orders, then repurchase through a post office. I am going to the unit hopefully this weekend to really look over the damages. I texted [redacted] immediately upon seeing our items damaged and she stated she would fax over forms to file claims through her insurance. Since Tuesday, she is not forthcoming with this information and really don't know what other place to turn. Your help would be greatly appreciated and I look forward to working with the Revdex.com.Desired Settlement: I am hoping to at least recover damages to my property and maybe even some refunded money
