I had a terrible experience with this practiceI saw Alicia C*** at the Ocean Parkway Office.I called originally to make an apptwith a different doctor, but the wait was too longI had verified that this doctor took my insurance on the insurance websiteWhen they suggested an apptwith DrC***, I asked if she also took my insurance and the answer was "*** *** *** *** ***" On the way to the apptI called to double check that they she took my insurance because she was not listed on my insurance's website as a provider( I've found the website to not always be accurate on numerous occasions.) I was again told that "*** *** *** *** ***It was also listed on the forms they had me fill out that all the doctors in the practice took Oscar I saw DrC*** for a consultation, not an examI liked her and she said that the next step was to go for an ultrasoundI specifically picked the insurance I have, because it allows many things before you meet the deductible, such as $copay on generic drugs, Quest labs, primary care visits, $copay on specialist visits and $copay for urgent careThe monthly premium is a bit higher and the deductible is $I've gone to the eye doctor, the dermatologist, etcand had a $copayWhen I went to check out and pick up my prescription for the ultrasound, I was told that I owed $I explained that my copay was $They insisted that they had a print out from my insurance that stated that I owed $because I had not met my deductibleBecause the office is located in a basement, there is no cell phone receptionI had to go outside to call my insurance companyThey verified that my copay was $and also told me that the practice was charging me $dollars, which is the out of network price, because DrC*** is not a provider for OscarI went back in and told them this and they continued to tell me that "*** *** *** *** *** ** ***" and that I did not understand my insurance policy, which would not pay until I had met the $deductibleAfter minutes of this and a conversation with an extremely rude billing person located in another office, I had to leave to go to workAt that point the rude billing person was supposedly on the phone with OscarI told them to call me tomorrowThe receptionist would not give me the prescription for the ultrasound because she said, she "*** *** *** *** ** **"They did not call me the next dayI tried to call them and the phone was busy all morning until PM when the answering machine picked up and stated that they close at on FridayI then spent a few hours on both Friday and Monday, trying to find another gynecologist who took my insurance, had good reviews from patients, who I could get into before the end of OctoberI didn't find oneI then called my insurance company and asked if they had been able to straighten out the situation when the billing person spoke to themThey said that they told her that DrC*** was not an Oscar provider, they were sending a provider education packet to the practice so that they would learn about the different types of insurance and that DrC*** had not yet called to ask to be provider, and the the billing person had been told what my co pay was $I then called the office and asked to speak to the practice managerI was told that there was no practice manager and that no supervisor or billing supervisor was available to speak with meI told the receptionist that since they had been told by Oscar that the $dollars charge was showing up because DrC*** was out of network, not because I hadn't met my deductible, I would wanted to pay my $co pay in order to get the prescription I needed while they resolved the provider issueThe receptionist then admitted passively that DrC*** was not an Oscar provider but said that the person I spoke with in the billing office had been told by Oscar that I owed $dollars because I had not met my deductibleI never would have even called back this lousy practice, if I hadn't had a time sensitive medical issue that needed to be checked outThey are clearly about making money, first and patient care, secondThis enrages meThe rude person in the billing office is clearly lying to cover the fact that she created this big messFortunately, today, I found another gynecologist I can see in weeksToday I read reviews on Yelp for the MtSinai practices and almost every single one says that the doctors are good but the office staff and billing are nightmaresI have a feeling that they will be sending me a bill for $I also have the feeling that there will be no one to talk to about itIt's really awful to be worried about your health and to be treated in this mannerBTW, I have never before experienced an office that states that they will keep your credit card on file and charge up to $for any tests, etcwithout notifying youThey will notify you before charging anything over $ It reeks of incompetence, callousness, and greed
