Review: My house had been vandalized on 1/*/2014. Upon the Association's initial investigation they did agree. However, after they have sent in their private adjuster to adjust the damages, they changed their minds and said that such a damage was caused by a leaking valve and refused to settle the claim. The adjuster did not take any clear photo of the damages; he did not investigate where he claimed the leaking valve was; he did not take any photo of that leaking valve which he claimed was the cause for the damages on 5/**/2014. However, on June **, 2014, a licensed plumber actually removed the plates off both bathrooms shower body and was able to see actual acts of malice, and clear photos were sent to the Association to show proof of actual acts of criminal mischiefs. Again, on June **, 2014, a licensed contractor further showed up and viewed the damages to the entire house and based on his experience, he determined that such a damage was the cause of vandalism. Moreover, I was able to provide to them proof, as I have always suspected that, beginning from the time I purchased and actually moved into my property, someone has been coming into my property; and I was able to provide bank transactions, gas receipts, medical appointments, etc. of where I was during those unlawful entries. And at least 2 of those unlawful entries were conducted with the assistance of my home security alarm system, ADT. You would think, after providing those findings to the NPIUA It would be ready and willing to help but that did not happen. Regardless of these things, even if It wants to contend that such a damage was the cause of a sole shower body that had leaked or have been broken, I would still be covered under the policy. There is no place within the Association's policy's exclusion clauses that excludes the breakage of pipes. In fact, NYS Insurance Law Section 1113 under subdivision 6 on "Water Damage", which language should have been identical under my current policy does cover pipes that breaks.Desired Settlement: I would like the NYPIUA to reconsider it's findings so that the claim may be settled. The Criminal aspect of this claim is currently in the hands of the U.S. Attorney General's Office and with the New State Attorney General's Office. The body line is that it does not matter whether the damage was caused by vandalism. The policy should cover broken pipes as there is no place within its general exclusions that excludes the breakage of pipes.

I was attempting to resolve an issue for my father with the insurance policy. He was sent a cancellation notice due to false statements made by the agent who visited the house. As I was trying to resolve the issue it was impossible to reach a customer service representative. After a certain time the automated machine sends calls to voice mail. I called several times today & spoke to 3-5 different representatives. Out all the reps one representative was able to provide more information. However, this person was very rude & condescending. She was very unprofessional & speaking to me as if I was an it. All I needed was patience, clarification & more information from rep. To better understand the situation with the policy.

Review: NYPIU sent letters to insured saying money was available for electrical upgrade in the form of grants. I sent an application letter and was awarded a grant. Shortly after they sent a Photographer to take pictures of my home, inside and out, which I allowed. They sent a cancellation with pages of items to be fixed and I sent an appeal with a timeline of fixes. In the meantime the electrical work proceeded and I have since paid for it. I was sent a letter that I would be reinstated without lapse. The very next day I received more items they wanted fixed or be cancelled. I responded again with a timetable for fixing said items. It has now been two weeks and I have not received the grant check or received notice that I have been reinstated,( except for the threat of cancellation). I've called my agent to enlist her help and have heard nothing. I feel that I've done everything on my part and they have been nothing but bait and switch. They conned their way into my home with the promise of a grant. I replaced the roof, electrical, water heater and tons of other stuff and all I get are cancellation notices. My husband is 100% disabled and it's taken every bit of our savings to make repairs and we are tapped out. I have never made a claim on our insurance, we have been treated horribly!Desired Settlement: I would like a reinstated policy and the Grant Award Money for the electrical work agreed upon.

NYPIU has reinstated me and paid the grant.

Review: New York Property is intentionally billing me for home insurance premium that was already paid via my mortgage company on August [redacted], 2013. They wrote to me in late August, indicating that my home insurance will be canceled on September [redacted] unless $407.22 is paid by the cancellation date. I contacted my mortgage company and they informed me that New York Property was paid--check was sent 8/**/2013 and was cashed on 8/**/2013. The Insurance company full well is aware, but still continue to bill me for the balance of $942.18. My mortgage company has a copy of the cash check, which they faxed to NY Property Ins.Und. BUT each time I call, they keep telling me they never got the payment from my mortgage company.NYPIUA was paid $1,337.40 on August **, 2013. They must REFUND me, in FULL, $407.22. How could NY Property received and cash a payment over a month and not APPLY that payment to the respective account in a timely manner?Desired Settlement: Please refund all overpaid funds immediatelythanks
