New York Renaissance Faire Reviews (1)

Review: This complaint is directed solely to the Camel Ride Operator serving the New York Renaissance Faire. The operator is unprofessional and does not take appropriate steps to ensure that he does place young children on a camel with inappropriate or abusive adults. After paying $5 per child for two 8 years old in our group to take a 90 second camel ride, the ride operator insisted that the only way for us to avoid having him place a mentally challenged man alone on the same camel as the kids was for us to pay an additional $5 for an adult in our group to board the camel with them. We waited in line for about 20 minutes and there were no riders before us (in groups of 2 or 3) who were asked to share the camel with people they didn't know. In fact the man boarding the riders told me he wanted to get the man out of the line because he was disturbing other customers. So really weird that his method of doing this was to try to force him onto the camel with two 8 year old children. I explained that the man had been saying very inappropriate things to the kids while we were in line, but his solution was still to insist that he had the right to place the man on the camel with them. Really!!!! The man kept kept saying how beautiful and blond the little girl's hair was, how old is she, has she ever smoked a camel cigarette. I stood behind the kids in line to protect them, but I felt like it was extortion for the operator to require me to get on the camel with them, or have them subject to further harassment during the camel ride.Desired Settlement: In addition to a refund of $5.00 (the cost of my ride only), I would like the operator to post his policies so that it is understood in advance that groups of fewer than 3 (including children) may be be placed on the camel with other riders at the operators sole discretion.

Response:

We chatted on the phone a bit ago and you informed me of your unhappiness with one of our Vendors, the Camel Ride.

During our conversation, I told you I would contact the owner of the Camel Ride and respond to your request for a refund of $5.00

Since that time, I also received a notice from the Revdex.com, so I am also copying them with my response.

I have enclosed a check in the amount of $5.00 to cover the cost of your ride, which was unsatisfactory. Please

accept our apologies. If you were being bothered by another guest, the employee should have been more sensitive

to your complaint and allowed you to ride with only your family.

Regarding the policies of the ride, you will find that there is a notice posted on all of the rides throughout the show.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. If you did not see the posting, perhaps it fell off, or was blocked by something.

We will be more diligent in the future to make certain that all the policies are visible.

We hope this satisfies your complaint and we look forward to seeing you once again at the Renaissance Faire.

Warmest regards,

Producer NYRF
