Newark Beth Israel Medical Center / Barnabas Health Reviews (2)

Review: Hello Sir/Madam,

This is a Complaint against the above mention Beth Israel Medical Center (NJ) emergency practice,

a) My Mother , [redacted]l, was travelling from India to US on family Trip, During the Transit on 06/12/2014 approx. 6:00am EST , she had a minor medical condition

And was moved to the Beth Israel Center (NJ) in the Emergency ward.

b) We are located in Florida (and I cannot travel because I am final phases of my emergency) were able to track her by calling all nearby hospitals.

c) When we spoke to her, and her medical condition itmproved medical staff to release her as we will be taking care of her under our supervision, The staff gave us/her an affirmative response. I was helping the Hospital staff translate, as my mother speaks broken English and is not able understand it fast.

d) But after some time we spoke with above mentioned Dr. [redacted] N. [redacted], MD , we were told that they want to do a CT scan carried out , but we mentioned that she has improved and any test will be carried out in our supervision here and not there. We spoke to my mother and she was dead affirmative on the same that she wanted to leave ASAP without any further tests.

But the above said Doctor started behaving erratic and dubious as if she wanted to force the CT scan on my mother anyhow , possible to gain money, Now she won’t let my mother talk to me at all on all sincere request and on back they were deceiving my mother with lies and falsification.

And told us that she will call us back I 15 mins, she didn’t call us at all, but when we called her back she mentioned that my Mother had given her the permission to do CT Scan,

This is a Scam, The Dr won’t let us speak to my mother as we begged as my mother will never do such a thing, but this Dr won’t listen and would keep us on hold for minutes and cut the phone, later we were told By my mother that they forced the test on her and also told lies to my mother thDesired Settlement: Change Policies, Stop troubling people, Have Some Ethical Sense and Stop decieving people, I will fight for the Bills and want you have dispute it.

Review: As I was visiting friends and family in Newark, NJ, while on my vacation I incurred a couple of insect bites on my left arm. I visit Beth Israel Hospital E/R approx.10:45p.m.on [redacted] 2014; in which I drove myself there. After a period of time the around 12:00a.m. I was taken by the nurse to be seen for my vitals. My insurance information was submitted and I was registered in the computer not once did the nurse who received my information inform that my insurance was not in network with the hospital.Long story short I was not admitted to the hospital as a take in patient to stay over night. Eventually the doctor came and examine my arm then prescribe my prescription and appoximatley 3:00am. I was release which was about four hours later from the hospital. After a while I received some crazy priced bills from Beth Israel Medical Center and also [redacted] the E/R. I have discussed the bills with the staff and the insurance had adjust the bill. The were charges the that should not had been made on the bill; like I was admitted and stayed for to two days. I was once a residence of Newark, NJ for eight years and I always was told that Beth Israel was a Hospital that cared for the people whether you have insurance our not. Then I was told by the staff that if I was a residence in the last three years they would handle the bill with charity care. Isn't this technically discrimination I was on vacation a whole week in Newark,NJ I had residence for a week!I just can't seem to grasp these charges when there was no blood with drawn the doctor examine my arm then prescribed steroids and then I was released. By me driving myself to the hospital how in the world I get a charge for $350 for E/R.Desired Settlement: I contend that these charges are not apporiate, for my visit to Beth Israel Medical Center along with the E/R. The staff should be responsible for not with holding information when an insurance is not in network with the hospital. The staff should present the fees up front to their patients.
