Dear Revdex.com, I am responding to the complaint filed by "Mrs*" with file ID # [redacted] This lady originally contacted my office a couple months ago for a consultation for her son to be seen by myself to evaluate a post-traumatic scar on his face sustained during an injury at his elementary school a year ago Apparently, she is in the middle of a lawsuit where she is suing the school for damages due to this traumatic laceration injury that required repair by another physician at an urgent care center She was told several times on the phone prior to the appointment that my fee for a medico-legal consultation as a Triple Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon is $ At no point was she forced or coerced to make or keep the appointment, and she had plenty of time and opportunity to think about and cancel this non-urgent appointment and go find another plastic surgeon She freely chose to come to my office with her son and male associate (?grandfather), during which my office manager reminded them of my fee and our office policy to obtain payment up-front Again, she was never forced to accept or keep this consultation and freely decided to proceed with payment and the appointment After I provided the full consultation, including a thorough history and physical examination, I spent significant time with them addressing their concerns with the child's facial scar and the options and risks of performing scar revisional procedures I answered all of their questions in detail and a complete medicolegal consultation was rendered as agreed upon A week or two after they left, my office manager receiving a hostile phone call from Mrs[redacted] yelling and screaming that she wanted her money back and thought we charged too much for my professional consultation services We tried to politely state that services have already been rendered and that these are my fees that she agreed to prior to the appointment and there is nothing we can do at this point Ever since then, she has been contacting my office repeatedly (multiple times a week) threatening us with writing bad reviews and contacting her lawyer for a potential lawsuit unless she gets her money back She also came to my office to harass and badger my staff last week, which finally culminated in our requiring to call the building security officer in order to escort her off the premises, and warn her that we will be forced to call the police department if she shows up again anywhere near my medical office building We have tried repeatedly to communicate with her in a very professional and polite manner, but I am concerned that she may be displacing some of her anger with her lawsuit with the elementary school on my practice, and not listening to reason In response to her particular complaints on the Revdex.com file, this was not a 'minute consult for a little old scar', they spent nearly an hour in my office for me to evaluate the child's chart and history, thoroughly examine the child's post-traumatic facial scar, and spend significant time discussing my assessment and recommendations with them An invoice for services rendered was emailed to her despite her denying it I attest that I was the doctor who saw and evaluated this patient for consultation, which she is disputing In fact, Newport Plastic Surgery, Incis my solo private practice and there are no other physicians practicing under that name Finally, she states that the consult is usually less than $ I am not sure where she received that information, but every doctor has their own rates for certain services She was informed multiple times prior to the appointment that as a Triple Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon with expertise in this area, my fee for a medicolegal consultation is $500, and again, she was never forced to accept this and she could have gone elsewhere at any time rather than make this appointment We have attempted to explain this multiple times to her in a kind and professional matter However, Mrs[redacted] does not seem receptive to any of these discussions With her last act of aggression at my office, she was informed that if she continues to harass or threaten me or my office, we are prepared to contact both our lawyer to pursue legal action, as well as the police department to pursue a restraining order in order to protect ourselves We hope it will not come to this Sincerely, [redacted] M.D., F.A.C.S.Diplomate, American Board of Plastic SurgeryDiplomate, American Board of Surgery Certification, Subspecialty of Surgery of the Hand Fellow, American College of Surgeons Newport Plastic Surgery, Inc [redacted] ***###-###-#### Facsimile: ###-###-#### [redacted]

Dear Revdex.com,
We have read Mrs.*'s reply and have nothing further to add As mentioned many times previously, I provided a full medicolegal consultation as requested, my professional fees were explained in detail prior to the service, and she willingly accepted the fee and was never forced to keep the appointment at any time We also did provide her an invoice as requested This was done after speaking with our legal team given the concerning nature of Mrs.**s repeated threats towards me and my office, including her calling and screaming at my office manager, sending multiple threatening emails to my office, and culminating in her coming to my office to intimidate and harass my staff Also, despite her convictions, I contend that I was the physician who saw her son ***) for consultation I took photos of her son's scar at the time of consultation which proves this (attached), and as a triple-board certified plastic surgeon, I am held to the highest ethical standards in medicine and I have no reason to lie We have spent significant time trying to appease Mrs.*, but it seems that she has a hidden agenda and is not willing to listen to reason
We wish Mrs* well in her lawsuit against her son's school, but we ask that she please stop attacking my practice or we will be forced to pursue measures from our lawyers and the police department in order to protect ourselves.
Best,

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
Hi,
I disagree with what [redacted]'s reply. When I asked for the invoice, I called, but he never answer the calls and emails. this really made me confused and then I drove a long way to his office. But he told his office lady to tell me that he would not go to the office that day. but I knew he must come to the office because only Tuesdays and Thursdays is his working time. So after a while, I returned, his office lady said he is not there and close his door nervously. then I knew they were telling lies. They call the security guard to let me leave. I don't know why they did so. why they are so afraid to give me the evidence of my payment.  For the old scar, he took only 5 minutes and told us there is nothing to do because my son is too young. he also recommended one kind of medicine and asked us to buy, but we didn't. He never provided the invoice before and it took me 45 days to ask this simple invoice and that's a lot of time. he is also not the doctor that  I made appointment with. They are not the same name.
thank you so much.

Dear Revdex.com,

I am responding to the complaint filed by "Mrs. *" with file ID #[redacted].  This lady originally contacted my office a couple months ago for a consultation for her son to be seen by myself to evaluate a post-traumatic scar on his face sustained during an...

injury at his elementary school a year ago.  Apparently, she is in the middle of a lawsuit where she is suing the school for damages due to this traumatic laceration injury that required repair by another physician at an urgent care center.  She was told several times on the phone prior to the appointment that my fee for a medico-legal consultation as a Triple Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon is $500.  At no point was she forced or coerced to make or keep the appointment, and she had plenty of time and opportunity to think about and cancel this non-urgent appointment and go find another plastic surgeon.  She freely chose to come to my office with her son and male associate (?grandfather), during which my office manager reminded them of my fee and our office policy to obtain payment up-front.  Again, she was never forced to accept or keep this consultation and freely decided to proceed with payment and the appointment.  After I provided the full consultation, including a thorough history and physical examination, I spent significant time with them addressing their concerns with the child's facial scar and the options and risks of performing scar revisional procedures.  I answered all of their questions in detail and a complete medicolegal consultation was rendered as agreed upon.

A week or two after they left, my office manager receiving a hostile phone call from Mrs.* yelling and screaming that she wanted her money back and thought we charged too much for my professional consultation services.  We tried to politely state that services have already been rendered and that these are my fees that she agreed to prior to the appointment and there is nothing we can do at this point.  Ever since then, she has been contacting my office repeatedly (multiple times a week) threatening us with writing bad reviews and contacting her lawyer for a potential lawsuit unless she gets her money back.  She also came to my office to harass and badger my staff last week, which finally culminated in our requiring to call the building security officer in order to escort her off the premises, and warn her that we will be forced to call the police department if she shows up again anywhere near my medical office building.  We have tried repeatedly to communicate with her in a very professional and polite manner, but I am concerned that she may be displacing some of her anger with her lawsuit with the elementary school on my practice, and not listening to reason.

In response to her particular complaints on the Revdex.com file, this was not a '5 minute consult for a little old scar', they spent nearly an hour in my office for me to evaluate the child's chart and history, thoroughly examine the child's post-traumatic facial scar, and spend significant time discussing my assessment and recommendations with them.  An invoice for services rendered was emailed to her despite her denying it.  I attest that I was the doctor who saw and evaluated this patient for consultation, which she is disputing.  In fact, Newport Plastic Surgery, Inc. is my solo private practice and there are no other physicians practicing under that name.  Finally, she states that the consult is usually less than $100.  I am not sure where she received that information, but every doctor has their own rates for certain services.  She was informed multiple times prior to the appointment that as a Triple Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon with expertise in this area, my fee for a medicolegal consultation is $500, and again, she was never forced to accept this and she could have gone elsewhere at any time rather than make this appointment.

We have attempted to explain this multiple times to her in a kind and professional matter.  However, Mrs.* does not seem receptive to any of these discussions.  With her last act of aggression at my office, she was informed that if she continues to harass or threaten me or my office, we are prepared to contact both our lawyer to pursue legal action, as well as the police department to pursue a restraining order in order to protect ourselves.  We hope it will not come to this.

Sincerely,

Review: [redacted], M,D. is the plastic surgeon that provided consult for me. he charged 500 dollars for a 5 minutes consult for a little old scar on face. he refused to provide invoice although I requested many times. his office manager urged me to pay quickly when I just arrived at the office. the strange thing is that, he is not the doctor that I made an appintment with.Desired Settlement: I asked him to provide invoice and refund the over charged part. usually the consult is less than 100 dollars.
