Nexan Building Products

Nexan Building Products has an issue of metal chips being baked into the powder coat on their decking panels I am a retired contractor that was building a deck on my own house Nexan made good on all the defective panels by shipping replacement panels at no cost to me There was some minor damage issues on some posts and gates and again they replaced those at their own costs including shipping My biggest issue was the delays that were caused by having to ship replacement products One shipment amounted to cartons I was assured that the cartons would be opened and checked so that I would not receive any more with metal chips in the powder coat They checked of the cartons The they didn't check had defective deck panels in them This caused more delays because they again had to replace the defective panels There was an issue with the stair railings which was the result of a drafting error After a couple of conversations, they told me they thought I could work with what I had That was their solution to that problem That surprised me to say the least I guess because I was building this for myself I can't figure my time was worth anything If I was a contractor doing this for a customer, then these delays would amount to lost time Lost time is lost money plus it would disrupt a contractor's scheduling also It would not make the contractor look very good to the customer They also get full payment before they ship their product which you need to keep in mind
A couple of good points They are very reachable by both phone and email and quick to respond to questions and problems They did make good on most of the defective product I also purchase railing sections that they made to my specifications that worked very well I don't think Nexan made a lot of profit on my order but that was due to their defects and having to make several shipments to replace things That was of no fault of mine My wife and I are very pleased with the finished product despite of the delays The product is very easy to work with and the deck fasteners are great to work with and keep the panels straight It is strong and hopefully will more maintenance free than any other product on the market Time will tell
