When Covid struck several months ago, my previous company was badly hit to the point that they were forced to downsize and cut some executives and unfortunately, I was one of those who were laid off. I quickly started my search by reaching out to familiar recruiters as well as posting and submitting my resume to various job websites, to no avail. Two months later I was still unemployed, and things had gotten slower as COVID has intensified its effect globally. After 16 years with a major Payment Systems company, I got phased out so they could hire someone less experienced (someone they could pay less money). I got lots of advance notice, at least. One of those leads led to an opening that wasn’t published – with a company headquartered overseas that had just opened an office in the US. I got hired after only two rounds of interview (aside from the initial phone screen interview).
