I took the MTC exam for the personal fitness management specialist job. I failed miserably my first try and right away I was suspicious that the whole process was about trying to sell me a cheap study guide for a retake. That all turned out to be not the case at all. First, they do not allow exam retakes and second, they allowed me to take a completely different exam and never once tried to push any of their products on me. I ended up passing the second time. The company is legitimate. If someone says otherwise, they have a personal grudge against the company for whatever reason and want to cause them harm by making people think they are a scam, which is not true at all.

Hello. I myself took the exam and failed. I have attempted to reach out to my hiring manager and HR a number of times to take another exam but they are not responding. How did you achieve getting them to allow you to take another?

Review: I was contacted by NHE Management for a job opportunity about 3 months ago. I was instructed to take an exam in order to be consider for the position. As an option I was offered to purchased a study guide, with the opportunity to take that exam a 3rd time if needed. I took the exam twice getting a simple score of unauthorized without having the opportunity to discus test scoring or results. I took it the 3rd time as it was offered for buying the study guide. I felt that after learning how to type fast after a month of practice, I was ready to pass the exam. I believe I did just that, when I took it the last time on July 27, 2014. I got an answer two days after on July 29, 2014 being accused for cheating, pretty much for finishing the test 10-15 minutes early and using information provided by them on the study guide I purchased. This were two of a few other reason that did make no sense to me. I've try to contact them, but as they explain they refuse to engage in any conversation or answer any questions from examinees. They have no evidence of wrong doing and they're not honoring the fact that I passed the exam.Desired Settlement: I understand they are not obligate do hire me, but since I passed the test, I would like them to honor that and give me the Certification for passing the exam.

Review: I was contacted by this company, and told I would qualify for a job with the company. I had to take a test to be hired. I was offered a study guide to help me with the test, and was told that I would be re-imbursed for the cost of the study guide, if I passed the test. I took the test, and I did well. I know I passed. However, I was told in a vague email that I did not. So, no re-imbursement, and by the way, no job.Desired Settlement: I want my money refunded immediately.

Review: NHE emailed me about recruiting me for their Personal Management Fitness Specialist job. I took the test they require for the job and I was never told how hard it is. So they tell you can buy a study to help you with the test which is $190. I buy the study with the promise of a reimbursement with a good score. I studied very very hard for the test and took it a second time and I nailed the test. They told me again I didn't meet the minimum requirements to get my reimbursement. Which is BOGUS. I nailed that test. They tell you need an 80% to pass and they do not even give you your score. And they tell you nothing is up for discussion. I never signed anything say I wouldn't get my actual score. All there is is authorized and unauthorized. They never tell you how or why you "failed".

I have been in the fitness industry a long time and should of seen this coming.

The whole thing screamed scam but I read online other people working there but I am not even sure that is real. Also they have a scam alert right on their website.

If they do not want to hire me that is fine but recruiting me (I didn't go to them), promising me a reimbursement and then keeping my money when I KNOW I did well is UNETHICAL and I want my reimbursement.Desired Settlement: I want my reimbursement of $190. Thank you.

Review: I was contacted by NHE about a trainer position. After a lengthy up front screening process I was told to take a 3 hour test. As part of this test they offered a study guide for purchase that would allow be to be better prepared for the test and allow 2 re-tests. I did purchase the guide for $190. I took the test and received a unauthorized (non passing) grade. I tried to contact NHE via email, phone several times to inquire if my study guide still corresponded to the test. Note NHE stated in previous emails that the study guide corresponds to a specific test. Finally heard back from NHE via email with a stock email saying I could RETAKE the test but only 1 more with no guarantee that my guide still corresponded to the test.

I have now look at reviews and realize that others have experienced my problems and that its a scam. I would like to get a refund on my $190 and file this complaint so other do not get "suckered in" to this employement scam.Desired Settlement: A full refund of my study guide fee. $190

Review: NHE contacts potential job candidates and offers them to take an exam for eligibility. I was told I did not pass the exam without being given a score, and upon further inquiry, told I received a zero for "cheating", though I never did. I was persuaded to purchase a study guide to do better on the exam, but I believe this is a scam to get people to spend $200 on the study guide. I also was not able to reach anyone from the company to answer questions I had.Desired Settlement: Refund for my $200 study guide

Review: I was contacted by the NHE about a possible job opportunity that was really unrealistic, but I was excited by the chance to work from home. I was then invited to take an online cert test that was 3 hours long and 230 questions. The first time I took it, I was floored by the amount of time each question took, and I'll admit, there were a few things I needed to brush up on. They offer a study guide and claim that they don't expect you to purchase it, however, there is almost no way to pass the test without buying the guide due to the highly subjective nature of the questions and answers. They also claim that if you do well on a specific section (3-B) that they will refund your money to you. So I bought it and studied it backwards and forwards. I then scheduled my 2nd attempt for the exam (they allow 2 trials to be considered for employment) but after I did the 1st section TWICE, I still couldn't get the next page to load so I had to scrub that attempt. I was offered another shot at the test and I took but by now, I had seen these particular questions 3 times and was familiar with them. They tell you that you must exit out of each section and reenter the next via a secret password that you get and they tell us that they can monitor our IP addresses so they'll know if we 'cheated'. After 2 weeks, I got an email stating that I did not pass the test and was told that they get to compare the 1st and 2nd attempts in order to base thier judgement on pass or fail. I then realized that there was no way they expect people to pass this test, but instead are using it as a tool to sell the study guide, all the while making it appear that they don't require you to buy it. When I inquired about the refund they offer for the guide, I was told that my answers were too close to the study guide (which by the way is an online tool so you cannot use it during the test) and they accused me of cheating and plagiarism. This is a vile way to make money while dangling such a lucrative carrot.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund on the online study guide that I purchased from them in the amount of $199 (USD). I know that I scored well and they claim that that is because I cheated. I am offended and would just like to wash my hands of these charlatans.

Review: I was contacted by [redacted] from National Health Educators, claiming he had found my resume on [redacted] and [redacted], and that he was interested in hiring me for a PFMS position with them. I was asked to submit a sample training program for a client, [redacted]. I submitted the program and was approved to move forward with recruitment. I was then told I needed to pass a Master Trainer Certification exam with an 80 to be considered further. I was told a MTC exam study guide could be purchased and that it would directly correlate with the exam I was given. (From their website - "Each MTC study guide correlates with a specific MTC exam. If you placed an order for an NHE online study guide, it will correlate with your specific MTC exam regardless of when the exam date appointment was submitted.") On their website it also states the following, "The purpose of a study guide is to assist its user in preparing for a written or practical exam. If you purchase an NHE Study Guide for this purpose, we expect you to pass an NHE exam. If you are unable to do so, the study guide did not serve its purpose. The NHE Study Guide Product Guarantee grants an additional two exam attempts, at no additional cost, in the event an unsatisfactory exam score is received." For me, the study guide DID NOT serve its purpose and furthermore when I signed up to take my retake exam, I was never sent a link for it. I registered for the retake on March 2, 2015, and the website stated, "DO NOT SEND AN EXAM READINESS EMAIL THIS TIME". It also stated, "you should receive an exam confirmation email, by our exam department, by 6:45am Pacific on the morning of your scheduled exam." I never received the email containing the link for my retake, as this is the ONLY way to receive access to the retake exam. I sent an email to both emails listed stated I never received my exam link and never received a response. On March 2, 2015 I also sent [redacted] an email confirming I had registered for retake for March 7.Desired Settlement: Because I was never able to retest and that is a "guarantee" with purchase of $190 study guide, I would like to receive a $190 refund for purchase of this study guide. Furthermore, in their own words, if the exam is not passed using the study guide, then it "did not serve its purpose". The study guide DID NOT serve its purpose, so I would like a refund.

Review: I had applied for a position that required I be tested but after taking the initial test I was told I hadn't passed. So they offered a study guide for $200 that would allow you a better chance on the exam plus it would come with 2 retries, for a total of 3 attempts. I purchased the study guide and studied very hard, cover to cover. On my second retry, I received an email indicating I was only authorized to take the test twice, but again, the purchase of the study guide came with 2 retries of the exam. I was only credited to take it twice. I have emailed NHE and left a number and still no response.Desired Settlement: I want a refund of the purchase price of the study guide which is $200, since the business did not full fill the agreement offered in providing 2 retries of the master trainer test.
